Where is @Wingnut I hope he isn't riding this out.....

I'm sitting on my back porch having a cocktail and chillin.   Thanks for thinking about me.  But I'm a good distance from the real bad stuff that is coming.

You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Yes ... you definitely don't want to get seriously low as you never know when most of us in the forum are going to decide to descend upon the Castle. happy77

Then you are much closer to Mobile.

This is quite amazing and I've never seen any storm this massive.

All of FL except for a small area in the panhandle and a very thin margin on the east coast of FL AND GA will experience tropical storm winds.

Here in Seminole the wind has switched due south at 50, gusting to 80.  Very noisy out there.  Hopefully things improve now that the center has moved on.

The center was parallel to us around 2:00 this afternoon, right now we're starting to experience the tail end of Helene leaving us -- that's going to now be bringing in the storm surge till about 1:00 a.m. tomorrow morning ... another 5 hours or so., but so far I truly am counting our blessings, things could have been very catastrophic.  I'm praying for all those yet to deal with this massive storm as a Cat 4 and unfathomable storm surge as well.

So .... I'm watching my daughter's dog.  She is short and low to the ground .... I take her out -- she's fine, but I was getting pretty blown around by the wind and had a hard time walking and getting the patio door open .... lol ... the life of a dog.....

At least they're campaigning for Trump!

One of our first homes that we lived in, in FL the streets flooded during Charley -- kids were out in canoes, kayaks, and boogey boards just having a great time.

I found this interesting: (video @ link)

Scientists are on the ground in Florida to map the winds of Hurricane Helene

FOX Weather Storm Specialist Mike Seidel speaks with Dr. Josh Wurman, the director of DOW Radar Network. Wurman's team is in Perry, Florida, hoping to map the winds of the eyewall of Hurricane Helene by using portable weather stations. Sept. 26, 2024.
