They got a hotel room. They survived the last one but it wasn't fun at all, particularly the aftermath. My biggest worry was that emergency personnel wouldn't be able to reach them in an emergency, or they wouldn't be able to call 911. I got my dad a marine radio (which can call out), and a crank radio but the former's batteries only lasted a few days (longer than a cell phone though).

FOX Weather meteorologist Bob Van Dillen is being praised as a hero after rescuing a woman from her car as Hurricane Helene floodwaters rapidly rose during a live shot outside Atlanta on Friday.

Van Dillen joined "Fox & Friends" to explain why he couldn’t sit around and wait for first responders to help when he saw a woman in danger as the deadly storm wreaked havoc.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region at 11:10 p.m. Thursday, and it has left at least 16 people dead and 4 million without power across Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina.

The Category 4 hurricane is the largest hurricane on record to hit Florida’s Big Bend region, with flooding predicted to reach as far as the middle of Tennessee.

Hours after making landfall, Helene weakened to a tropical storm, with sustained winds falling to 70 mph. Helene caused at least 200 flash flooding warnings in Florida and in regions of South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Last count I heard that 40 people have died; but the search and rescue is just underway.

I never imagined that a storm headed for FL would leave such a path of unbelievable devastation. Never in history has there been such an aggressive and far reaching storm; FL, GA, SC, NC, VA all are facing massive historic destruction.

Prayers up for all of those who continue to deal with the devastation from the impact of this storm.

Helene has also impacted TN and responsible for power outages in OH. This storm was/is an absolute monster.
