This Is Not The America We Were Promised
Kurt Schlichter

The events of the last few years have confirmed that we are no longer a democracy in the sense that we once thought we were – and I know we’re a republic, but follow along with me. The premise of a democracy is that individual citizens can participate in the political process by making their positions known and voting for representatives who they understand will support their views. But those components are under attack here and throughout the West. They are under attack because our garbage elite considers our participation in our own governance to be both morally illegitimate and a practical nuisance. As a result, the elite is doing everything it can to prevent us from participating in our own governance. It’s intent to make us into serfs, disarmed, disenfranchised serfs who obey in silence.

After all, when citizens participate in their own governance, they may choose policies that the elite dislikes. And the elite doesn’t like the policies normal people prefer. Part of it is profit and power, and part of it is the elite’s moral grandstanding – don’t underestimate the power of politics to make spiritually empty people such as our trash ruling class feel good about themselves. The elite don’t like competition from the peasants. It cuts into their action and is generally inconvenient.

What does the elite want? Power. It wants unquestioned power over us that is not subject to any limitations by dissent or appeals to the law. Why do you think they hate the Supreme Court so much? SCOTUS gets in their way when it enforces our rights. Why do you think they hate the Electoral College so much? Because it makes it harder for them to leverage their kept constituencies to take the presidency.

Yep. Between the massive bureaucracy and presidents' overuse of executive orders, Congress is effectively neutered and so, therefore, has been our vote.

The only thing keeping Congress from exercising more power are the Congressmen and Senators themselves.

They've chosen to lapdogs for an imperial presidency for the sake of mainting the DNC's and RNC's party "unity".

Yes.  Perhaps this is why no one pays attention enough to Congress races and we lose them.  And don’t forget Trump was big on EOs, which was the prime source of his “accomplishments” - undone by Biden and anyone else who doesn’t like it easily with their EOs.

Shows more and more to me that people really have a desire for a king.  All this, plus the all-in unquestioning adulation of Trump.  Always thought that would be the purview of Dems.
Common sense is an uncommon virtue.

Mr. Schichter:
"This Is Not The America We Were Promised..."

Au contraire, Kurt.

It all goes back to what Thomas Jefferson dreamed and wrote into The Declaration so many years ago.

Words that sounded noble ... when reading them on paper, or saying them out loud.
But... did Mr. Jefferson realize the implications of what he wrote?
Was he making the same promise to Africans and muslims?
Did he intend that they be "equal" to the men (MEN, not women) standing around him when he presented the Declaration to the Continental Congress?

I don't believe that. Was he that blind to the realities of the world around him?

The hard truth is that we now ARE getting "the America" promised by Mr. Jefferson's platitudes.

And... we are discovering -- perhaps too late in our nation's history to save it -- that those words were nothing BUT "platitudes", with no basis in reality.

I prefer another saying someone unknown put together:
"Free people are not equal;
Equal people are NOT free".

Or, to steal a line from H.L. Mencken:
"Americans are getting the America Mr. Jefferson promised them -- good and hard..."

It's not the America I did 4 years in the USAF, for either.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.
