Turns Out We Were Right: Dems Were Playing The Long Con
I & I Editorial Board
August 3, 2024

Back in February, we noticed a spate of articles claiming that there was no way that Joe Biden would not be the Democrats’ nominee.

“In the span of two days,” we wrote, “articles started appearing making the exact same argument: That Joe Biden will definitely, no questions asked, be the nominee come November.” (See: “Are Dems Actually ‘Stuck With Biden’? Or Are They Playing A Long Con?” February 14, 2024.)

We noticed that these articles — all written by supposed political pros — made the same argument:

It’s too late for Biden to step aside.
Party elites are all behind Biden.
There’s no way Biden would ever drop out.
Nobody wants Kamala Harris to be the nominee.

Horsefeathers, we said, Democrats’ only interest is in defeating Trump and keeping power, they will do whatever it takes to achieve that.

We said:

Biden’s physical and mental state will only get worse, and his decline is by all evidence, accelerating. It’s an open question whether he’d agree to, or would be able to, debate Trump.

The chance that he will do something catastrophically stupid or embarrassing grows by the day, and the White House can’t keep him locked away until Nov. 6.

We pointed that these pundits were also claiming that all the talk of replacing Biden was coming from Republicans, which made no sense because “Republicans would love nothing more than for Biden to mumble and stumble his way to November, and then suffer a massive, humiliating defeat.”

I don't buy that this whole thing was planned, and I say that because Kamala was not the preferred candidate of the democratic establishment.  I think they would have preferred Biden to serve only one term, and then have an open primary for 2024. That would have enabled them to run someone like Whitmer.

But Biden and his wife refuse to play along, so Biden ended up winning the primary.  At that point, Kamala was the only alternative once Biden withdrew.

All of this came about only after the assassination attempt on Trump failed.  Keep in mind that after Biden's abysmal debate performance, the Dems circled the wagons and doubled down on candidate Biden.  It was only after the failed assassination attempt that the Dems decided to kick Joe out and replace him with the only person who could legitimately take away his campaign cash.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Once again, my predictions, posted way before on November 30, 2023 and again on December 23, 2023:

I was predicting Biden would not be the nominee three years ago.
But unlike you I’m too lazy to cite my sources.
