As usual, I come to threads like this late (I visit the Briefing Room to read with my evening meal).
As I told you nearly 8 months ago, there would be a "Great Switcheroo of 2024".
One for the history books.
Currently underway.
The "endorsement" of kamala seems to have come as an afterthought, and really has little significance.
When you vote for a presidential candidate in a primary, you are voting for that candidate ALONE -- where does the VP's name appear on that ballot?
The VP is chosen by the nominee and his name is offered for nomination AFTER the presidential nominee has been voted upon and confirmed.
VP candidates have been switched before (how and why did Harry Truman become vice president under Roosevelt?).
Again, the biden endorsement of kamala is pretty much "pro forma" and is ONLY "a recommendation" to his [former, now uncommitted] delegates. In no way is it "binding" upon them to vote for her.
All this talk about "a virtual convention"... I think that's going to blow away like "virtual" smoke (could be wrong). This will become a convention that calls for in-person wheeling and dealing, AND the old-fashioned "smoke-filled rooms".
greasy gavin and the witch of whitmer wrote themselves out of the race too soon. Unless they come whistlin' in with a changed tune, they'll have to wait until twenty-eight.
Of course there's o'er-the-hillary lurking (what's her health like, lately?).
And who knows -- don't count out bernie the commie, he probably still feels as if he were cheated out of what seemed to be rightfully his from the last go-round.
Then again, we may see a "dark horse" candidate emerge.
I'm thinkin' Andy Beshear of Kentucky or Roy Cooper from North Carolina.
And... if they replace kamala, they're going to have to do something "for the black vote". In that case, look for the vice-presidential pick to be Wes Moore of Maryland.
Or... they could even let kamala stay on... as the VICE-presidential candidate.
Going to be an interesting month ahead...!
