🚨🚨🚨Most important news from Secret Service Dir. Rowe's 1 p.m. address this afternoon to every Secret Service employee:

The Secret Service Butler rally that ended in an assassination attempt against Trump and the murder of rallygoer Corey Comperatore apparently DID NOT HAVE a UNIFIED COMMAND CENTER with local law enforcement.

Therefore, there was no interoperability between USSS and local law enforcement when communications came in. I have been asking this question of the Secret Service for weeks now. Finally, we have our answer.

They literally could not talk to each other that day. It was COMPLETELY SILOED - not just partially siloed with the command post serving as a way to make it interoperable and share communications. @SenRonJohnson and his team of staffers were the first to bring up the siloing of communications in his initial report released publicly on 7/21.

It appears as if unified command centers at rallies and events --(made up of Secret Service supervisors and their local law enforcement counterparts) before Butler were limited to National Special Security Events ONLY.

Those events are major federal govt or public events considered to be nationally significant and designated by the president and/or the Dept. of Homeland Security Secretary -- in this case Mayorkas. They, therefore, did not include rallies and campaign events for Trump.

So obviously, the USSS and DHS, including Biden and Mayorkas, were using outmoded protocols for Trump events attracting tens of thousands of people.

This is beyond outrageous.

Rowe in his 1 p.m. address: "We're going to put somebody in that command post, or we're going to establish our security room in partnership with that unified command post. It's the same model we use in National Special Security Events, so why would we use it on our daily operations?" 

On interoperability communications with local law enforcement Rowe said this:

"It's more than just trying to find the frequency of the local PD that we're working with and diving into our radio network," he said, noting that it will require investments. He said he's already stood up a task force that will be co-chaired by a Secret Service supervisor in the protective division in partnership with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

"We're going to bring together FEMA, we're going to bring together other operational elements of the department. We're going to bring in state and locals. We're going to get in a room, a small room and set them up to monitor communications with our counterpart."

Fuller Rowe quote on the need for someone from local law enforcement and Secret Service in a UNIFIED COMMAND POST at all campaign events, not just presidential or vice presidential events or other NSSEs.

Acdting Secret Service Dir. Rowe from his 1 p.m. all-hands remarks:

"We’re going to bring in state and locals. We’re gonna get in a room and figure this out, because gone are the days of putting an agent in some faraway room and some small broom/hall closet and with a box radio. We’re going to set them up with modern communications with a counterpart."

(I was told that the Butler Secret Service "command post" likely consisted of a box radio and two or three guys -- maybe even in parked car -- that's how loose these can be._

"We saw in Butler that that failed us. So I’ve given directions to all the SAICs in the field -- we’re looking at security rooms and command posts. [If] state and local partner shave established a unified command post, we’re going to put someone in that command post, or we’re going to establish a security room in partnership with that [local] unified command post. It’s the same model we use for National Special Security Events, so why wouldn’t we use it on our daily operations?"

Secret Service Agent Abandoned Post Guarding Trump To Breastfeed: REPORT

A female Secret Service agent abandoned her post to breastfeed a child right before former President Trump’s North Carolina rally Wednesday, Real Clear Politics’ Susan Crabtree reported.

The site agent, in charge of security for the entire event, found her breastfeeding her child in a room that was supposed to be set aside for Secret Service “official work,” five minutes before Trump’s motorcade arrived, according to Crabtree.

The woman, who came from the Atlanta Field Office, was in the room with two other family members, Crabtree reported.

Caught Sleeping on the Job? Trump's Secret Service Detail Is an Absolute Disaster

The Secret Service is an agency besieged right now. What happened on July 13 that allowed former President Donald Trump to be shot in Butler, Pennsylvania? How was it that the rooftop overlooking the rally site was left unprotected? Congress wants answers. The American people deserve answers. And this agency has followed a protocol where these crucial questions remain on the table. Thomas Matthew Crooks nearly assassinated Donald Trump that day. And we have received numerous updates—all bad—about the total breakdown of the security situation at the rally.

To make matters worse, RealClearPolitics’ Susan Crabtree has a story about the internal issues within Trump’s Secret Service detail. It's a lengthy article, but this 60-person team has devolved into a den of reported unprofessionalism and dysfunction. Agents were reportedly caught sleeping on the job at Mar-a-Lago. One member of the team was lost to suicide. The atmosphere could be described as toxic (via RCP):

    Trump’s regular detail team, a force of 60 employees – special agents and support staff – has been beset by internal division, long workdays and weeks, and constant stress. Last year, the team lost one of its members to suicide.

    Among the allegations are accusations of improper sexual relationships or fraternization within the team, debilitating mental health issues, non-merit-based promotions, conflict of interest issues, unfair retaliation and the creation of inappropriate memes and social media posts.

    On May 15, the top two leaders of Trump’s detail sternly dressed down the entire 60-member staff in a virtual meeting, announcing formal investigations into what they argued were serious misconduct violations, several sources in the Secret Service with direct knowledge of the online meeting tell RealClearPolitics.

    Sean Curran, the detail leader and top boss of Trump’s regular 60-member protective team, and his deputy, Matthew Piant, complained of “rumors, innuendo and toxicity” among the detail, as well as “selfishness and immaturity.”

    They reminded all employees that they had worked to mentor and train them, and, up to this point, had refrained from referring agents and support employees for discipline even though there had been violations that they could have reported to agency headquarters for investigation.

    Curran and Piant complained that they were not getting the same treatment in response from the team. Over the last year, the two leaders have been the target of formal complaints, and some members on the team viewed the all-hands lecture as an effort to turn the tables and retaliate on those complaining about their leadership.

    Piant spoke first, accusing someone on the detail of stealing from another. But he quickly shifted to harshly condemning an incident in which a teammate took cellphone photos of two members of the support staff sleeping in a command post while guarding Mar-a-Lago and circulated those to others on the detail.

Secret Service approves bulletproof glass to shield Trump at outdoor rallies

Ballistic shields are already used for sitting presidents and vice presidents but previously hadn't been deployed for candidates.

 The Secret Service will use ballistic glass to protect former President Donald Trump so he can resume outdoor campaign events, according to two sources familiar with the planning and a Trump campaign official.

Bulletproof glass of that kind is already available to sitting presidents and vice presidents. It is transported using military aircraft whenever the president travels, but Trump, a candidate and former president, does not have access to such military transportation support. Sources who asked not to be named to discuss sensitive security provisions said the ballistic glass will now be positioned around the country and moved in by agents who will be responsible for guarding it.

Not every outdoor event will require ballistic glass, but to better protect Trump, it is likely to be used whenever there are issues at specific sites or there are needs for added security.

It is one of several security measures previously used only for officeholders but that are now being added to Trump's protection after a failed assassination attempt, one of the officials said.

Representative Clay Higgins is a member of the congressional investigative task force looking into the assassination attempt by Thomas Matthew Crooks against President Trump.  Rep Higgins was also doing independent research prior to his appointment to the congressional committee, and he released his preliminary report findings today.

There are some remarkable revelations in the 6-page pdf.  One detail outlines how it was a Butler County SWAT officer who fired the initial shot that stopped Matthew Crooks after 8 shots fired.  The Feds did not initially stop the assassin, the locals did. Another detail highlights how the Butler County coroner was not aware the FBI quickly released the body of Crooks for immediate cremation.

The family of slain Trump supporter Corey Comparator — who was shot and killed while protecting his family from gunfire when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at the former president — is demanding answers to security failures surrounding the Butler, Pennsylvania rally on July 13.

Comperatore — a retired firefighter and father of two — was struck and killed by one of eight bullets fired by Crooks, who was positioned on a rooftop located roughly 150 yards from the former president’s podium.

“He definitely was a hero,” said Helen Comperatore, Corey’s widow, in an interview with WTAE. “He saved his wife, he saved his child and he was just the best guy. He was just the best.”

“He was just a wonderful man, and I want everybody to try not to remember him as the man that was shot at the rally,” Helen Comperatore told the outlet. “Just try to remember Corey as, he was a great man that was a great father. He was a great husband.”

Helen and Corey Comperatore were married for 29 years and had two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee, who were present at the rally with their parents on July 13. When gunfire erupted, Corey yelled at his family to get down and threw himself in front of Allyson, at which point he was struck in the head.
