Then there was stupidity compounded in Butler that day. Layers of it.

Right. That's easier for me to digest than the 'idea' that a professional hit team set up a patsy = plowed the field to get him in place, gave him a perfect window, with a pro backing him up from the water tower, and with bombs, and encrypted comms... All that... and missed. with at least 5 shots fired. MISSED. Bombs didn't work. The whole thing a shit-show. but yeah, a 'professional' hit.  *****rollingeyes*****

C'mon now. If that's the case, our covert guys are utterly inept. DEI must be messin up them spooks.
It's a shit show. It almost got done, but hardly.

The beauty of that is that it allows absolute malice to use incompetence as a mask.

Kinda like every Biden policy, ever.

In aggregate, however, 100% incompetence is too competent (at being incompetent) to be unplanned.
The truly incompetent screw even that up and get things right on occasion.

I’m vacillating a bit but lean towards ineptitude. In any event, I don’t believe the complicity would need to be all that complex. If they (the Alphabets) knew of the threat, they just simply needed to get out of the way - never mind that the perp was an amateur. Even then, numerous individuals would need to be complicit making it unlikely. I think…

Hopefully we have Senators who will bird dog this appropriately.

Would the police have seen him and ignored him knowing he had a range finder?

Depends on what they are calling a 'range-finder', which is a kinda interchangeable term for a spotting scope - A spotting scope would not be surprising in the cheap seats or in  the parking lot at any big venue in rural parts... Decent optics for watching the show... Optics rural people almost always have around, and better in a long term, than binoculars.

Apparently it was a range finder for golfing.

Lucky the spooks were so incompetent after taking advantage of the obvious incompetence of the SS advance, SS, and various LEOS...Them spooks couldn't get it done, even with this Barney Fife LEO routine.

I can certainly entertain the 'Let it happen' idea... I think they were starving his SS detail. And that very likely on purpose... To let it happen. Insufficient advance team. Insufficient overwatch. inept personal coverage.,, All of it points hard at purposeful insufficiency.

I don't need to go much further than that.

Incompetence has nothing to do with this my friend. Only the hand of God saved Trumps life.

NO! He most definitely is not bullet proof. What happened once might not happen again. I hope and pray that he heeds the wake up call.

To be fair... I brought a young lady home from a fancy-dress thing, back in the day... I don't remember the exact circumstances involved in me having to make a hasty exit through her bedroom window - But that's not important now.

What I mean to say is that Sunday shoes on a tin roof are a bad idea. Maybe them SS fellers just need some high-tops.  happy77

Then clearly it's worth winnowing the evidence to figure out how that happened.

One of these: https://www.amazon.com/Laser-Rangefinders/b?ie=UTF8&node=162019011

My dad used one hunting deer because the 12 ga rifled slug has a ballistic profile like a rainbow past 100 yards. I have inherited it, because he doesn't hunt any more. It's fun to test your ability to gauge distances (and find out how often you are wrong--or not!)
It isn't real conspicuous, and fits readily in my hand (I have large-ish hands and could 'palm' it.)

:yowsa: ALL the evidence! But that will never happen now since much of it has been trampled on or otherwise washed away.

So. He was using the rangefinder, on purpose, from the ground, to get a rough idea of his distance.
He was definitely targeting what he was aiming at.

That gets rid of the idea that he was going there with the thought of Vegas-style mayhem.
This was, fer shur, an inept attempt at a surgical strike. That's what he was doing.

The Alphabets have gotten pretty good at destroying evidence.

Good observation. No point if he was just going to spray bullets into the stands. So what if you are off a few inches for mass murder. He clearly was targeting Trump.

Indeed. They can’t scale a 3/12 roof but damn, they can cover their tracks. The sad part is, that’s where we are at these days.
