Trump has completely re-written his convention speech in light of the assassination attempt against him on Saturday, and will call on Thursday for a new effort at national unity.
In an exclusive interview with the Washington Examiner a day after being hit by a sniper’s bullet, Trump said he wanted to take advantage of an historic moment and draw the country together.
“The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger,” he said, “Had this not happened, this would’ve been one of the most incredible speeches” aimed mostly at the policies of President Joe Biden. “Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now.”

 🚨New info from a source in the Secret Service community — Trump’s usual protective Secret Service detail was worked so hard (working 7 days a week with no days off) that many of agents assigned Saturday were temporary replacements from different field offices.

This is not the usual protocol for sitting presidents and vice presidents but “typical” for former presidents, (although no former presidents have run again in modern history.)

“Trump has a permanent detail, however it’s much smaller in the amount of bodies,” the source said. “His detail has been worked so hard with all the travel that they’re working 7 days a week with shift changes. so HQ sends in temp agents to supplement - not a good scenario. Mission Failure, IMHO.”
🚨 (cont.) I’m told the only permanent agent from trump’s detail during the rally was SAIC (Special Agent In Charge) Kern, two sources within the Secret Service community told me. All others were temps. Pittsburgh USSS Field Office had a Jill Biden visit and designated a lot of resources to her, the source said. Also - the advance work only occurred one-day beforehand bc of a lack of resources.

Every American should be skeptical about what they hear. Our job is to be curious. Why did the crowd notice the shooter before law enforcement, whose job it is to look for shooters? Why did it take 8 rounds to ring out before someone returned fire? We can’t get answers because the Secret Service is refusing to answer our questions. The head of the Secret Service got a big fat bonus from Biden. Kimberly Cheatle was a Biden hire and under her watch, the Secret Service has had problem after problem. The FBI tells us the alleged Trump assassin was a lone actor, but we don’t trust the FBI. The same people investigating this assassination attempt produced the Russia hoax and launched a coup against Trump. We were an inch away from tragedy and we deserve accountability, not a cover-up.

Donald Trump's would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks had explosives in the car he drove to the Pennsylvania rally and used a firearm purchased by his father.

Authorities found the 'explosive devices' in the 20-year-old's vehicle and home after Secret Service agents shot and killed him seconds after he opened fire on the former president, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Matthew Crooks, 53, legally purchased the AR-15 that his son used to attempt to assassinate Trump on Saturday.

Thomas Crooks killed one rally goer, now revealed to be Corey Comperatore, and critically injured two others who are being treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh while attempting to take out Trump.

A bullet struck the former president in his right ear but his campaign says he is otherwise 'fine.'

Crooks, who graduated high school just two years ago, parked his vehicle near the rally site in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday before scaling to the roof of a nearby industrial manufacturing building and targeting Trump.

Authorities claim that after police received multiple reports of suspicious packages near where the shooter parked his car it prompted them to dispatch bomb technicians.

Investigators worked well into the night to make sure the scene was clear, which included searching Crooks' home and speaking with his family.

The t-shirts use an image of a defiant Trump raising his fist in the air while blood dripped down his cheek from his ear, as Secret Service agents tried to rush him off the stage.

The attack unfolded at around 6.15pm local time on Saturday, just 15 minutes after the former president took to the stage for a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Gunfire rang out in the air and Trump was seen clutching his ear before ducking behind the podium.  .  .

Secret Service team for Trump was ‘mostly temporary replacements.’

My latest compilation of reporting: GOP Was Investigating Secret Service Before Assassination Attempt | RealClearPolitics

 🚨New info from a source in the Secret Service community — Trump’s usual protective Secret Service detail was worked so hard (working 7 days a week with no days off) that many of agents assigned Saturday were temporary replacements from different field offices.

This is not the usual protocol for sitting presidents and vice presidents but “typical” for former presidents, (although no former presidents have run again in modern history.)

“Trump has a permanent detail, however it’s much smaller in the amount of bodies,” the source said. “His detail has been worked so hard with all the travel that they’re working 7 days a week with shift changes. so HQ sends in temp agents to supplement - not a good scenario. Mission Failure, IMHO.”
🚨 (cont.) I’m told the only permanent agent from trump’s detail during the rally was SAIC (Special Agent In Charge) Kern, two sources within the Secret Service community told me. All others were temps. Pittsburgh USSS Field Office had a Jill Biden visit and designated a lot of resources to her, the source said. Also - the advance work only occurred one-day beforehand bc of a lack of resources.

Another Secret Service source says approval for the Counter Sniper Team was only granted the day before the rally - and that is not enough time for a two-man team to do their survey.

Saw a picture of the bullet whizzing past Trump's head, I think it was a NY Times photographer that caught it... unless it was somehow photoshopped... anyhoo, if real, it was a bullet that hit Trump not "fragments" as from a teleprompter as initially assumed... and the shooter actually got off a decent shot at a moving target and did only lack an inch or so of possibly killing Donald.

Basically what saved Trump's life was his head movement during his speech... It was that close.

“I kinda was thinking that as close as my house is, that I honestly thought this might be part of a command station at some point,” she said.

The USSS blaming Butler police is about as low as it goes. But what do we expect of this administration.  Ultimately, Mayorkas oversees the agency, and he answers to Biden, so we're talking about two of the biggest liars in DC.
