Is this claim confirmed by an actual news source? Since claims, a year or so ago, that Zelensky had bought two yachts proved false, I think this new claim should be taken with a Himalayan-sized mountain of salt. Just as having two yachts in the Black Sea made no sense, driving a $4M car around cities under frequent attack by Russian drones does not make sense.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"?

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
The Zelensky's were multimillionaires before the Russians invaded, with properties all over (not just Ukraine). Even if the reports of lavish purchases were true, it is not necessarily an indication he is corrupt, and may be Russian disinformation designed to increase resistance to funding the Ukraine war effort in the West.

I'm pretty sure this has been debunked. The "invoice" from the car dealer was not in the proper format required by French law, and the source of this story was pretty sketchy. Besides, I think she's more of a Mercedes Benz kind of gal.

Did Zelensky's Wife Spend Millions on New Bugatti Supercar?

https://www.newsweek.com/ukraine-zelenska-factcheck-bugatti-1920187

Quote
Over the course of the war started by Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena Zelenska have been subject to reports debunked by Newsweek that Ukraine's first couple were engaged in corruption.

In December 2022, social media users reported that during a visit to Paris, the Ukrainian first lady undertook an expensive shopping trip in which she splashed out $42,500, a claim that was debunked.

Other allegations also refuted in Newsweek Fact Checks include the Ukrainian president building a property portfolio spanning the U.S., Italy, the U.K. and France and even the first lady purchasing a private island.
...
The publication posted what is said was a copy of the invoice for the new car which would be available in 2026 at a price tag of 4.5 million euros ($4.8 million).

The French website carried a video of what it said was Jacques Bertin, an employee of the Bugatti dealership in Paris, which was amplified by other questionable websites and X user 'Aussie Cossack.'

However, the community posts that allow X users to add context to a post wrote that the video was a deepfake, reinforcing doubt about the realism of the talking protagonist as well as the purported invoice.

I "get" that there are conservatives who want to believe that Ukraine is the most corrupt nation in the Solar System and Russia was right to invade Ukraine, but please! If "news" like the OP story seems too perfect to be true, it probably is not true.

Totally debunked, just like her supposed shopping spree in Paris.  Never happened.

Zelenska didn’t buy a Bugatti hypercar for $4.8M

https://cybernews.com/cyber-war/zelenska-didnt-buy-a-bugatti-hypercar/

Quote
It’s yet another carefully crafted propaganda campaign, most likely of Russian origin, aiming to discredit Ukraine and help convince its European allies to cease international support vital to fighting the Russian troops on Ukrainian soil.

Fake news has been circling the internet for around a week now. Mostly, it’s being spread by fishy and not well-known websites. While no reputable news outlets swallowed the propaganda hook, the huge number of articles on the web might fool a reader searching for Olena Zelenska, her husband and the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, or any other Ukrainian-related news.

The “news” seems to have originated on Verite Cachee, a French-language website. The article named “Olena Zelenska became the first owner of the all-new Bugatti Tourbillon” alleges that Olena Zelenska and Volodymyr Zelensky attended a private presentation by Bugatti while visiting from Ukraine. The Ukraine’s first lady “was impressed by the new car” and decided to buy one for $4.8 million.

(snip)

The “proof” and false claims were soon amplified by other fishy websites and X user ‘Aussie Cossack,’ a known Kremlin propagandist Simeon Boikov.

The fake news, crafted to diminish allies' support for Ukraine, was soon debunked by experts and citizens alike.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
The nonsense in Ukraine has to end.  We are not obligated to aid Ukraine, and Ukraine was NEVER an ally of the USA.  There is a reason why most of the former nations in eastern Europe became part of NATO and Ukraine remained outside the circle.  And Russia attacking Ukraine is NOT the same as Russia taking on a nation in the NATO group of nations.

And last but not least, Ukraine is a dictatorship and NOT democratic in any way.  Elections have been permanently suspended.  With logic like this, why not come to the aid of Cuba and Venezuela?  There is a real reason.  What we are doing is nothing more than feeding the military industrial complex and making a few powerful people in Ukraine filthy rich with our dollars.  ANd why are we financially supporting the pensions in Ukraine when we can't do that here in the USA?  Pure nonsense!!!!!!!

Not true on two counts. 1) We guaranteed Ukraine's security in 1994 when it gave up its nukes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum), and 2) Ukraine sent troops to fight alongside ours in Iraq, which has conveniently been forgotten (https://www.army.mil/article/15056/ukrainians_complete_mission_in_iraq).

1) Yeah, because they feared Russia (and rightfully so, as Putin has repeatedly demonstrated), and 2) Ukraine has been seeking membership since at least April 2005 (but) but been denied due to Russian pressure against it.

You're missing the forest for the trees.  Putin has larger designs on the former Soviet bloc countries (and Alaska) and needed to be stopped in his tracks in Ukraine to avoid an even larger and bloodier war in Europe that would include NATO.  Go back and review your history in 1938, with "appeasement" and where that led.

That's not true, and you're making a false comparison.  Ukraine has a functioning Parliament, Zelensky was elected President in a landslide in April 2019, and under the country's Constitution, Parliament (and NOT Zelensky) suspended this presidential election due to the Russian invasion and martial law (https://war.ukraine.ua/articles/not-sacrificing-democracy-why-ukraine-cannot-hold-elections-under-the-martial-law/) and (https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2023/09/14/ukraine-faces-dilemma-of-holding-elections-in-wartime_6135205_4.html).

"Ukrainian legislation directly prohibits holding elections under martial law. Even if it did allow them, dozens of unsolvable practical and security issues would render it literally impossible to ensure a fair electoral process in the circumstances of a total war."

Conspiracy theory nonsense.

I do agree with you on this...if those pensions government salaries need to be funded then Ukraine and Europe should do it themselves.  But militarily, the U.S. should give the Ukrainians all the intelligence, SpecOps assistance, and equipment it needs to WIN, and not just freeze the war, making the same stupid mistakes that Truman made with Korea and Johnson with Vietnam.  If we don't then we WILL regret it later.

Classic, "Look over here, not at what's in front of you." This thread is about one of several, eventually debunked, Russian propaganda attempts to smear Zelensky and Ukraine to salami-slice away support of Ukraine. Putin and Russia understand the old saying about lies circumnavigating the globe before the truth gets its pants on.

Why this thread remains public and hasn't been archived eludes me.
