We are not obligated to aid Ukraine, and Ukraine was NEVER an ally of the USA.
Not true on two counts. 1) We guaranteed Ukraine's security in 1994 when it gave up its nukes (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum), and 2) Ukraine sent troops to fight alongside ours in Iraq, which has conveniently been forgotten (
https://www.army.mil/article/15056/ukrainians_complete_mission_in_iraq).
There is a reason why most of the former nations in eastern Europe became part of NATO and Ukraine remained outside the circle.
1) Yeah, because they feared Russia (and rightfully so, as Putin has repeatedly demonstrated), and 2) Ukraine has been seeking membership since at least April 2005 (but) but been denied due to Russian pressure against it.
And Russia attacking Ukraine is NOT the same as Russia taking on a nation in the NATO group of nations.
You're missing the forest for the trees. Putin has larger designs on the former Soviet bloc countries (and Alaska) and needed to be stopped in his tracks in Ukraine to avoid an even larger and bloodier war in Europe that would include NATO. Go back and review your history in 1938, with "appeasement" and where that led.

And last but not least, Ukraine is a dictatorship and NOT democratic in any way. Elections have been permanently suspended. With logic like this, why not come to the aid of Cuba and Venezuela?
That's not true, and you're making a false comparison. Ukraine has a functioning Parliament, Zelensky was elected President in a landslide in April 2019, and under the country's Constitution, Parliament (and NOT Zelensky) suspended this presidential election due to the Russian invasion and martial law (
https://war.ukraine.ua/articles/not-sacrificing-democracy-why-ukraine-cannot-hold-elections-under-the-martial-law/) and (
https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2023/09/14/ukraine-faces-dilemma-of-holding-elections-in-wartime_6135205_4.html).
"Ukrainian legislation directly prohibits holding elections under martial law. Even if it did allow them, dozens of unsolvable practical and security issues would render it literally impossible to ensure a fair electoral process in the circumstances of a total war."There is a real reason. What we are doing is nothing more than feeding the military industrial complex and making a few powerful people in Ukraine filthy rich with our dollars.
Conspiracy theory nonsense.
ANd why are we financially supporting the pensions in Ukraine when we can't do that here in the USA? Pure nonsense!!!!!!!
I do agree with you on this...if those pensions government salaries need to be funded then Ukraine and Europe should do it themselves. But militarily, the U.S. should give the Ukrainians all the intelligence, SpecOps assistance, and equipment it needs to WIN, and not just freeze the war, making the same stupid mistakes that Truman made with Korea and Johnson with Vietnam. If we don't then we WILL regret it later.
