I come back to this thread to see if he responded but so far, nothing

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

I keep checking too. There’s a foreboding sadness about his absence.
You're everywhere I go, I am not alone
You call me as Your own to know You and be known.
You are holy!
And I fall down on my knees.
I can feel Your presence here with me.
Suddenly I'm lost within Your beauty,
Caught up in the wonder of Your touch.
Here in this moment I surrender to Your love.

Through my genealogical programs and other tools I've used in teaching genealogy classes,  I might be able to be of some help.  Not wanting to be obtrusive, or infringe into Pete's privacy, but if anyone wants me to check,  PM with the  details you have.

There's no indication that I know of that he purposely left. His last post doesn't seem to indicate it was intended to be his last. So, it would seem likely that he's either incapacitated in a medical facility with serious medical issues or he didn't survive. If he's incapacitated, hopefully he isn't in pain. He's been through a lot and bravely faced it.

He gave me some personal info @DB for use in case something happened to him and I can tell you that no funeral arrangements have been handled by the funeral home he told me would be the one nor any other in the area so I'm sure he's still around. Unfortunately, I do not have any personal contact information that would enable me to contact him directly. It's likely that the answer lies with @240B post above. He isn't computer savvy at all.

He lives too far from me so I cannot personal go and check.

He still has several ways to contact any one of us.
If he is technically awkward, maybe he simply does not know what to do?

Maybe we could start another heated discussion on what is the best handgun for defense?

Or...maybe post public apologies from those who ridiculed and dog-packed him over his views on religion, God and the Afterlife?  /s

He gave plenty of warnings before he 'disappeared'.

@240B Pete and I were both in the same, very specialized, unit at different times during Vietnam. Pete and I never personally met but we surely did know of each other. "Yeah, I saw your name on some paperwork." "Yes, he was with XXX on operation YYY". That type of thing. When he wrote things about his time in the army here I generally knew what he was saying was true.

There is no such thing as a best handgun for home defense @DCPatriot that would be a 12ga. shotgun with an 18" barrel loaded with #3 buck or BBs.

That might do it.

That's really good news then. There's a good potential reason for his absence which is just a technical issue. I thought he purchased another computer previously and successfully got it setup in the past? If he did, then he had what he needed.

Not really, although I feel sorry for the owner of the site.  It was all anti-Freep, all the time and that stuff gets old after a while.  I had a stalker from FR follow me there, and it eventually became anti-FReeper/anti Cyber Liberty.

WOW! Missed is an understatement! I searched every funeral home in his area for such news and came up dry. Can you find an Obit for him @MACVSOG68

He sent me this awhile back:

Quote
"The Coastland Times",printed in Manteo,NC

The "Daily Advance",printed in Elizabeth City,NC

And MAYBE "The Virginian-Pilot",printed in Norfolk,Va

This is assuming of course that the people handling my estate bother to have this done.

Nothing there that I can find.

An old patriot and soldier passes away

I would peek on this thread on occasion to see any news, and I had a gut feeling that he did pass away

Rest in peace, my friend. I raise a glass to you and your service. For you and your families last request,  a donation of Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital is on its way

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Sad to say, Art (Sneakypete) Hines passed away on July 14 in North Carolina.  He was 77 years of age.  Another VN vet who will be missed.

@MACVSOG68

Thanks for checking in, Mike!  Sorry that it was breaking such sad news to us!

Hope you're doing well!

I knew his first name but I did not know his whole name.

He was always a gentleman to me and supported me at my lowest.

G-d bless you Pete, and I know you are in heaven surrounded by dogs and cats you have loved.

I am really going to miss you.  :patriot:

We enquired about him in June, says he died on July 14th at the ECU, I wonder if he ever knew we were all asking about him?

Tears and more tears.  It's really tough to lose a TBR member that I've known for so long. I truly liked Arthur. He had quite a few stories that indicated that he had a rough life from the beginning to the end and because of those stories and background, I found him to be a remarkable person and he touched my heart. He served this country proudly and I will always be grateful for his service.

Good-bye Arthur. May God Bless You. Rest in Peace.   8888crybaby

Perhaps.  I prayed for him many times and hopefully, he knew or could feel that we were all thinking of him.

I know he was a cantankerous old coot (it takes one to know one)
But he stood fast with me though some very dark times.

I know I never knew him... Not in the sense one would normally infer - I never shook his hand, never looked him in the eye. But in the way of anonymous postings on the internet, even then, with a couple decades of simmering, I think the essence of the man can be inferred, if not defined, as it is with the flesh...

I know the name Art Hines passed through my fingertips - A name I probably knew in passing through the years... It's odd how real life is so ethereal as viewed from the net... But @sneakypete  is a name I will carry with me the rest of my life.

@sneakypete was my friend.

RIP
