HOUSTON, Texas (TND) — Police in Texas charged two suspects with murder in connection to a 12-year-old girl who was raped, strangled to death, and later found in a creek.

The Houston Police Department on Thursday named the child as Jocelyn Nungaray. Nungaray's body was discovered in a shallow creek around 6:15 a.m. on Monday, authorities said.

"It was a horrible scene,” police said.

Authorities also said two individuals -- Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Penaramos, 26 -- were detained Thursday morning and later arrested. Police previously asked the public to help them track down the pair.

From what I have read, the girl snuck out of her bedroom late at night. That's how she wound up at a convenience store when she should have been asleep. While this is/was common behavior for young kids, this is not the same world we grew up in.

It is dangerous for an armed grown adult to go wandering around after midnight. For innocent children to attempt this in these times, especially alone, especially a 12 year old little girl, is not recommended.

 Migrant charged with murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was released into US just weeks ago

Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, were charged Thursday with capital murder for the death of Jocelyn Nungaray.



Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sources said Pena Ramos crossed into El Paso, Texas, on May 28. He was released soon after his interaction with border agents.

He told authorities that he planned to live with his cousin in Houston until his court appearance in July, sources said.

Agents put a GPS tracker on Pena Ramos, which was only set to monitor his location for 21 days, sources said.

It’s unclear whether he was wearing the tracker when Jocelyn was murdered.

“Two men who were seen on surveillance footage with a 12-year-old girl before her body was found in a Houston creek earlier this week were arrested Thursday in her death,” reports the AP.

Again with the “two men.”

“Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, each face a charge of capital murder in the killing of Jocelyn Nungaray,” the fake AP report continues. “The medical examiner has determined that her cause of death was strangulation.”

“Police said that surveillance footage showed the men meeting up with Jocelyn before walking to a convenience store with her. The three then walked to the bridge together where Jocelyn was killed, police said,” the AP informs its readers. “It was not known yet if Jocelyn knew the men, who were roommates, police said.”

“Roommates.”

Two men from Venezuela have been charged with capital murder in the brutal killing of a preteen girl in Texas this week, according to reports.

Just after 6 a.m. on Monday morning, the body of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was found in a creek in north Houston.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled strangulation as her cause of death, KPRC 2 reports.

On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department released surveillance images of two persons of interest who were seen accompanying Nungaray at a 7-Eleven hours before her death.
