HOUSTON, Texas (TND) — Police in Texas charged two suspects with murder in connection to a 12-year-old girl who was raped, strangled to death, and later found in a creek.

The Houston Police Department on Thursday named the child as Jocelyn Nungaray. Nungaray's body was discovered in a shallow creek around 6:15 a.m. on Monday, authorities said.

"It was a horrible scene,” police said.

Authorities also said two individuals -- Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Penaramos, 26 -- were detained Thursday morning and later arrested. Police previously asked the public to help them track down the pair.

From what I have read, the girl snuck out of her bedroom late at night. That's how she wound up at a convenience store when she should have been asleep. While this is/was common behavior for young kids, this is not the same world we grew up in.

It is dangerous for an armed grown adult to go wandering around after midnight. For innocent children to attempt this in these times, especially alone, especially a 12 year old little girl, is not recommended.

 Migrant charged with murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was released into US just weeks ago

Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, were charged Thursday with capital murder for the death of Jocelyn Nungaray.



Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sources said Pena Ramos crossed into El Paso, Texas, on May 28. He was released soon after his interaction with border agents.

He told authorities that he planned to live with his cousin in Houston until his court appearance in July, sources said.

Agents put a GPS tracker on Pena Ramos, which was only set to monitor his location for 21 days, sources said.

It’s unclear whether he was wearing the tracker when Jocelyn was murdered.

1. I hope, and it's likely they'll get swift and brutal sentencing in prison. I'd let them die more slowly if it were me.

2. Girls and kids in general are defiant beyond reason today, except this isn't the world of 50 years ago. The media and entertainment industry pushes this crap with the cute little shows and rhetoric, especially girls. These naive kids go out and are immediately in over their head, and like this situation end up dead.

Prison is the worst place these guys could land. *IF*, and I say if, because I believe Biden will send them back home or let them go somehow.

But *if* they do wind up in prison, I would not take odds on how long they live.
