Fauci: More People in Red States Died from COVID Because of ‘Political Ideology’

Pam Key 18 Jun 2024

Former White House chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that because of “political ideology,” there were more COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations in red states versus blue states.

Co-host Jonathan Lemire said, “We now head into a moment where because of that divisiveness, it’s become a political issue. Vaccinations in particular have become a political issue where you have not just Donald Trump but other Republicans saying, no, no, don’t take the COVID vaccine. We had other prominent figures saying, no, you should not take other vaccines as well, things that are standard that everyone has perceived for decades. With this much of disinformation and anger and just flat out vaccine hesitancy, how nervous are you about our ability to handle the next pandemic, whatever it might be?”

Fauci said, “I’m very concerned about that because the misinformation and disinformation about absolutely scientifically proven life saving interventions. It’s astonishing to me that so many people by political ideology will make a decision that would actually endanger their lives. The facts are, and as a physician and a scientist, this is very painful to me, that if you look at red states versus blue states, because of people getting less vaccinated because you’re a Republican versus a Democrat, there are more deaths and hospitalizations in red states versus blue states. That’s horrible that that happens, that people suffer and die because of misinformation that’s related to a political ideology.”

Top three states by fatality rate:

Pennsylvania - 1.44 %
Michigan - 1.35%
Nevada - 1.35%

Bottom three:

Hawaii - 0.52%
Utah - 0.50%
Alaska - 0.49%
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

COVID didn't ask the victim their ideology.

Red, blue, purple, ...  I don't care, just as long as Fauxci dies in jail.

A solid interviewer would have asked him to square that notion with the fact that Sweden (which has a more urbanized population than the US or UK) that followed the Great Barrington declaration approach (protect the vulnerable, no mask mandate, no lockdowns, encouragement to allow work from home, no school shut-downs) -- favored, usually in vain, by red state "ideologues" (only North Dakota managed to never impose a mask mandate) --  had a lower fatality rate than the US or UK that took his approach.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Texas Dept of health run by a Republican governor, state  legislature and a conservative head of the Health Dept. Why would they lie?   Even Ron Desantis Florida Dept of health had the same stats. A new study released by the Texas Department of State Health Services shows that during the month of September, Texans not vaccinated against COVID-19 were about 20 times more likely to suffer a COVID-19-associated death and 13 times more likely to test positive than people who were fully vaccinated.  See link below.

EVERY credible medical  journal is now coming out with stats showing red areas died of covid greater per capita than blue areas.

A few years back a woman posted on FR showing liberals  on  reddit and other sites saying they were going on conservative sites in an organized manner  making and spreading anti vax comments to spread misinformation so conservatives died. I wish I saved her link. She was trashed by the  anti vax crowd on FR

https://www.dshs.texas.gov/news-alerts/texas-data-shows-unvaccinated-people-20-times-more-likely-to-die-from-covid-19#:~:text=A%20new%20study%20released%20by,people%20who%20were%20fully%20vaccinated.

Did the vax cause some deaths and injuries? Probably did.  No vax is 100% safe but it saved more lives than hurt.

Conservatives tend to be doom and gloomers and believe propaganda more. Why there are all the gold, generator ads, 25 year food supplies ads lon Fox but no other channels.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I am not claiming to be more wise than the average person, but I was suspicious from the start of the whole "scamdemic."  I wish more people would have immediately come forward and participated in civil disobedience by not wearing masks, not observing the 6ft guidelines, keeping their businesses open.  I am not criticizing those who did not, but I did and felt kind of lonely at times.

After that whole episode in our country I now have zero trust in most (not all) of the medical profession, government officials, and my own community.  It was really eye opening for me to see how the government as a whole really only cares about power and control.  I thought there were a lot more individuals in the government who truly had the best interests of the country in mind.

Shame on me.

How telling that PA and MI, the former one who let itself get steamrolled by Cuomo, the latter with Whitmer who was just as bad, if not worse—had the worst fatality rate while the three best included a state 2,000 miles from any other state or country, the state with the lowest population density, and the state with one of the highest birth rates—two out of three of which are reliably conservative.

But, of course, anyone who knows anything about how this virus works should not be surprised by any of that.

Nobody was ever going to legislate away an airborne virus and it was a gross abuse of power to even try.

I was basically blackmailed by my son to get it or not see my granddaughters, he his wife and even the little girls had multiple vaccinations (like four) and they all tested positive for Civic multiple times. I refused to get any other s after two, nada he'll of an argument about that with my wife.

The strangest part of the whole COVID scam was how the Democrats claimed that "questioning science" was unscientific.
The science is settled! To question that the Earth revolves around the sun is heresy! You will be burned at the stake.

The whole entire point of 'real science' is to question prevailing beliefs. It has been this way forever.
But now we are told that science is an 'edict'. Science is more a 'proclamation' than it is actual science.

When politics manages to, by force of law, usurp intellectual curiosity, then the world is doomed to stagnation.

I was against the vax and lockdown on general redneck principles. Then the lies... It all turned 'oh, hell no' pretty quickly.

I think I wore a mask maybe a couple times toward the beginning. Mostly I stood hard against it, to the point of confrontation on several occasions. As a matter of course, I pushed back, offering businesses that I would leave at their request, but if that happened I would never darken their door again, and would campaign against them among my peers. Very few in fact insisted to that point. And the same goes for citizens... Karens with shaking fingers got the whole 9 yards.

As to the efficacy... I don't believe these stats. My sis is a whacko-liberal who was living in Chicago at the time, and has since moved to Michigan... She knows a handful of people within her second circle (close friends) that died from COVID. Maybe 10. It was a monster in her life. To this very day, I don't know anyone who died from COVID.

Now, you could cite differences that matter - She lives a city life and I live a rural one... Population density matters for sure. But I think the main difference is that she and her crowd are all vaxxed up, and me and mine were typical horse-paste suckers from the get-go. She suffered loss and lockdown, and I walked free.

So I really don't give  a shit what the stats say.  I lived it. I have stats of my own, confirmed by my own eyes and my own experiences. Everyone I know that got covid got ivermectin right off the bat... and zinc to go with it... And everyone I know had it easy. All of em. It worked, and worked very well.

As to your lonesomeness... I think that's a direct barometer of your community. And a good measurement of a need to relocate among more sensible people... Folks that know how to stand up when the chips are down.

As to yourself, and others like you - I salute you! It is damn hard to walk contrary to the hoard. It is damn hard to stand on principle - To really develop a position and stand upon it... I can admire that.

I had many friends go through the same thing.  Using grandkids as covid hostages . Take the shot or you will not see your grand children.  Some of my friends had Gen X kids asking us to get the jab, but not too many. When my kid (born in 78) asked, I said hell no. Try and stop me. End of discussion.

But by far, the worst offenders were my friends with Millennial kids.  Probably the worst generation ever spawned and the worst parented generation.

Worldometers' US page probably shows there was no political party pattern to states' per capita Covid deaths ... though New York and New Jersey might skew that into more deaths per capita were in "Blue" states.
I am not and never have been a leftist.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

I don't think it's a party thing. I think it's a city vs. rural thing, that is masked by party as rural folks tend to be Republican, but are not... What they are is Conservative by nature. They are independent, and not followers. Or they are not going to be rural very long.

@banddag

Do you have anything that back that claim? Is there any research that shows that conservatives tend to be more doom and gloom and believe propaganda anymore or less than any other group?

I have spent time on left-wing sites and what you’re saying isn’t entirely true. People tend to be gloom and doom and accept propaganda depending on whether or not their party holds the levers of power. It has nothing to do with ideology

When George W. Bush was president, liberals were making the claim that he won’t leave peacefully after he serves his two terms. He did. And I also heard it when Obama was president that he won’t leave peacefully after his two terms. He did

Liberals were predicting in 2016 the stock market will crash if Donald Trump was elected. Didn’t happen. Paul Krugman predicted that if Donald Trump got elected, we would see a global recession with no end in sight. The economy crashed during Covid, but it quickly recovered at the  end

Donald Trump himself predicted the stock market would crash if Joe Biden won the 2020 election. It didn’t happen

And have you heard of the excessive hyperbole and gloom and doom from from the climate change cult? Over something that has been a natural part of the Earth since there’s been an Earth?

So your claim that somehow conservatives belief propaganda more isn’t really backed up by anything either way

For every right winger who bought the “pizza gate”  story, there’s a left-winger who bought the “Covington kids harassing that Indian” story. And that’s even despite the fact that there was a video showing no such thing happened

COVID hit the elderly hardest.

The locations with highest elderly populations took the biggest hit.

Simple fact.

States like Arizona have a higher population of elderly than a state like California for example.

The constitutional rights of the citizenry that were trampled on over this virus and how Americans went along with it so willingly is very depressing

It was done under the banner of “for your own good”

People die in pandemics. That’s a sad painful reality. And the elderly were one of the most vulnerable groups. Protect the vulnerable as much as you can. And if you’re sick, stay home. But we went way beyond that for not really much in return
