One year ago tomorrow, the doomed Titan submersible embarked on a trip to visit the wreckage of the Titanic.

British billionaire Hamish Harding, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French navy veteran PH Nargeolet and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, who was just 19, were all onboard.

Tragically, it was reported as missing and after a desperate race against time before the oxygen ran out, only the debris and 'presumed human remains' were found.

I don't care that it was controlled by a game controller.
I don't care that it used 'camp lights'.
I don't care what it used for ballast.None of those things are reasons for criticism.

I admire innovation. And that is often what innovation looks like.

What I DO care about is the failure. And how that failure may have interacted with their innovations.
That's the only legitimate b*tch.

I agree. Whoever came up with that dooshy comment about the ballast doesn't understand what those deep diving subs do with their ballast.

When they're done at the bottom they dump their ballast and leave it behind.

Some subs use custom made containers filled with lead that cost a bundle of money every time they descend.

Using inexpensive items for workable ballast makes a ton of sense. Ditto with using off the shelf controllers and lights. Who cares so long as they work?

He was not 'arrogant'. He was psychotic, with a death wish. And he took others with him.

All the Submarine engineers, all the aerospace engineers, all the marine safety experts were telling him, "You are going to die!" This garage 'thing' that you built will not survive at depth. He fired, sued, and dismissed all of them, just before his death.
