State and local governments. Next question.

State and local governments did not pay people not to work. Nor did state and local governments tell people they didn’t have to pay their rents or student loans

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

At the direction of the federal government.

State and local governments have no say in people not paying their student loans, rents, mortgages. That was all at the direction of the federal government.

Regarding medical care, that was also dictated from high. Hospitals want to be paid, follow the federal rules or don't be paid.

CDC and WHO are NOT agencies of the federal government.  They, and the media greatly aided by Fauci and Birx, are mostly at fault if you ask me.

OK. I should have added "for the most part" to what I said.

Why do reckoning and justice frighten you?

That's not reckoning, or justice. That's why.

OK. I should have added "for the most part" to what I said.

No. It was state and local governments complying with a federal dictate, that was largely in compliance with UN dictates. Don't bend what it was to protect Tumpy. It was a world-wide effort to install a world government, and a socialist/communist one at that.

And our feds were right damnwell in the middle of it.

Thank God above for red state governors and county councils and mayors and sheriffs that said oh hell no. THEY kept the whole world from slipping into darkness.

Cause the reckoning part belongs in the 3rd world dictatorships! Not here!

I vividly recall a fella (Donald John Trump) recommending an inexpensive and readily available treatment for COVID and getting excoriated for it. (Some memories seem to exclude things they don't want to remember.)

It was that or be thrown out of office! The entire federal government, including his "Republican" friends, was aligned against him.

Weak kneed. Principled folks don't bow to bullshit.
He did.

At best that makes him weak. At most, he colluded. I prefer the latter.

several governors stood up like rocks. And several more joined with em. They stood as beacons in the maelstrom. Tumpy did not.

I take an entirely different view. And that's alright!

I'm convinced that the primary purpose of the entire COVID episode was to get rid of Trump and it failed.

No

For example, Republicans wanted  a much smaller stimulus than the Democrats did, including  Mitch McConnell. Trump sided with Democrats for a larger stimulus. Every indication suggests had Trump sided with the Republicans, they would’ve had his back

When Tom Massie tried to force a recorded vote vs voice vote over COVID spending to put everybody in Congress on record, Donald Trump not only wanted him kicked out of the GOP, he retweeted a tweet from John Kerry attacking him

We have two separate pictures of Donald Trump that   his supporters push. Earlier, we had one tell us how tough Donald Trump truly is. Now we have one telling us that he couldn’t fight the left or government bureaucracy because they were too strong for him

Y’all need to stick with one talking point

https://rollcall.com/2020/03/27/who-is-thomas-massie-the-house-member-from-kentucky-trump-wants-thrown-out-of-the-gop/

And here’s Trump praising Kerry for calling Massie an “bleep” for his position

https://x.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1243572588200280064?s=20

And some of you can’t understand why many of us don’t want to vote for another four years of this?  Trump is not gonna slow down our destruction. He’s just gonna put his own stink on it

I am sticking to one talking point! i.e. The COVID attack was primarily to get Donald Trump out of the Whitehouse. It's you and others here that can't stick to the subject.

But you said that he had to go along with everything related to Covid because everybody was mean to him and he was the victim. You said that he had to go along with all the Covid bullshit because everybody was aligned against him

However, outside  the MAGA bubble, he was an eager and willing participant. Even tried  to make sure his name was on those stimulus checks

What’s gonna be the excuse if he gets another four years and the federal bureaucracy continues its growth?

You can continue to believe that if you want but I'll never join you.

I'll worry about the next four years when they happen. I just hope he gets to live long enough to see his next four years in office!

It'll be because he was a four year lame duck president...what started out as the MAGA reason why Trump could get everything done will morph into the excuse for why once again he got very little done and really nothing that wouldn't again be an erasable EO by the next(and I mean next) democrat two term president.

So did you agree with Massie’s  position at the time or Trump’s? The reason why it’s important is because it dispels the myth that Trump was a victim of Covid

There were many of us who were screaming “inflation” when these checks were being handed out. And now here we are

I recognized it for what it was very early on and said so at the time @DB anyone who wishes to do so can confirm. IMHO all this after the fact BS is just distraction.

Trump continued pressing his case: “$2000 ASAP!” he said on Twitter on Wednesday. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) even printed out massive posters of Trump’s tweets pushing for more cash and read them on the Senate floor.

But McConnell had plenty of back-up in attacking the House’s passed legislation. Even retiring Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said he had little interest in larger direct payments.

Why don’t we just cut to the chase and nominate Bernie Sanders for the GOP nominee?
