Donald Trump Jr. criticizes Republicans for reluctance to fight Democrats’ ‘fire with fire’

.

Donald Trump Jr. criticized Republican lawmakers for what he sees as their failure to fight against their Democratic counterparts, arguing that they talk about taking action against Democrats and rarely ever do.

Trump Jr. said many Republican lawmakers appear on television and threaten to subpoena Democratic lawmakers and do not follow up on those threats. He explained that this feature among most Republicans is what separates them from Democrats, claiming that lawmakers on the Left will use the power they have.

“You’re telling your base, the people who are watching, ‘You’re fighting,’ but you know damn well that you’re not actually fighting, and we see that so much,” Trump Jr. said on the Tucker Carlson Show. “That’s the difference between the Democrats. I mean, they’ve shown, they’ll put their opposition in jail, they’ll smother them, they’ll silence them, there’s nothing they won’t do to preserve power.”

Not looking to start an argument, but...can you not see the contradiction?

The Democrats fight as one body...one team...one organism.  And NOTHING is off the table.  Disagree with The Party and you're threatened with no support...no campaign dollars.  You become a persona non grata.

The Republicans are the complete opposite.  A complete Party comprised of independent thinkers/voters.

"Ladies and Gentlemen" describe the GOP, while the Democrat Party are "Thugs" where indeed, "Resistance is Futile".

Of course, INFORMATION DOMINANCE is a primary factor.

The very first thing President Trump should do come Inauguration Day afternoon is to appoint a vindictive, revenge-filled Attorney General.

The very next day after confirmation is to have no less than 2 dozen high-ranking...high-profile Democrats rounded up by Federal Marshall SWAT teams...as well as 2 dozen mainstream media editors and corporate board members.

Whisk them off to Guantanamo Bay and begin military tribunals and try them for TREASON and INSURRECTION against the Republic.

Start with the Kenyan along with the heads of the alphabet Intelligence agencies.

You can't do any of that without judges signing off on it, and it is a dumb idea anyway.

I always thought Donald Jr. had a better grasp of reality than did his father.  Apparently, I was mistaken.

The House can issue whatever subpoenas it wants, but lacks any authority/mechanism for punishing anyone for non-compliance.  The most they can do is make a referral to the DOJ, which for obvious reasons would decline to prosecute.

Yes should Trump be re-elected it is critical to have a worthy, steadfast, conservative AG.  Cruz would be a perfect selection.  Whether or not Trump would swallow his pride and appoint Cruz or Cruz accept remains to be seen.

As for your other idea of whisking people off to Gitmo and trying them for treason -- if it's legal, by all means....

I've always viewed Don Jr. as a little more unhinged than his father and doubtful he knows the ins and outs of government or the Constitution.

Trump had the opportunity to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her illegal activities.  Cooler heads prevailed inside his administration, and should lawfare backfire on the democrats, it might be wiser to let them look foolish than descend into tit-for-tat legal abuse.  We do have a crisis on our hands if the dems learn the wrong lesson.

This is exactly the point.  Just because the Democrats do something politically stupid to entertain their base doesn't mean Republicans should follow suit.

How many Republicans and independents who don't like Trump are going to vote for him anyway, simply because of the way the Democrats have acted?  So why on Earth would we want to hand the same kind of political ammunition right back to the Democrats?

To do what Democrats have done, you have to pervert the law and be fundamentally dishonest. That isn't a standard to embrace.

Plus, when does it end?

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

This is not how our founding fathers envisioned us to govern. They intended for us to uphold the principles of democracy, integrity, and respect. Instead of engaging in divisive and unproductive behaviors, let's rise to the occasion and act as the responsible and mature leaders our nation needs. How about we be the adults in the room, working together to find common ground and solutions for the greater good?

But either Trump Jr is either a retard or he was dropped after he was born.  So I'm not suprised he said it.

This  pointing-up  is bullshit.

After shitting all over the US Constitution for eight years ---- a soft coup against a sitting President, stealing a national election, mandating medical treatment under penalty of law, using the full scope, weight and unrelenting reach of the government to imprison a (favored) political rival, our Founders would be too busy to preach.

Are you denying Trump backed Fauci and the medical mandates; flattening the curve and shutting down the country?

I do agree that 535 members of Congress have their heads in the sand and that we have a very corrupt and dangerous DOJ.

My biggest issues with Trump are his promising to quell the riots after Floyd and are country has greatly suffered for his lack of action.  He failed to complete the wall and out country has suffered greatly.

I don't see that his 2nd term will be any better.

"shitting all over the US Constitution"

Who shut down the country to flatten the curve???
Shut down schools???
Deciding who was essential and who wasn't???
Paid people to not work???
Told people they didn't have to pay their student loans???
Told people they didn't have to pay their rent???
Told people they didn't have to pay their mortgage???
Forced people to wear useless masks???
Blocked use of alternative treatments that have proven to be affective and cost thousands of lives???
Forced people to die alone in hospitals???

Where was the constitutional authority to do any of that???

All of it was at the direction of executive branch of government.

Oh really?

George Washington was a man of solid principle, in all respects.

He had people he didn’t like though he tolerated on “his side”.  Often that included their boorish behavior.  Obviously it included those who wished to replace him as leader.

He still maintained his composure and dignity, remained even-handed regarding staff despite rumblings, and only gave them the what-for when it was plain things had gone to far.

Washington would not have liked Trump, certainly not for his arrogance or his immorality and his narcissism.  He might have liked some aspects but he’d be more in the camp of Gates - “I should be in charge, not this dude who won’t lead (I,e, spout off insults making him “tough”)”.
Common sense is an uncommon virtue.

State and local governments. Next question.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

At the direction of the federal government.

State and local governments have no say in people not paying their student loans, rents, mortgages. That was all at the direction of the federal government.

Regarding medical care, that was also dictated from high. Hospitals want to be paid, follow the federal rules or don't be paid.
