Rickey Henderson, a Baseball Hall of Famer and MLB’s all-time stolen bases leader, has died, The Post has confirmed.

He was 65.

He died in the Oakland, California, area on Friday after battling pneumonia, TMZ reported.

This is confusing. Like you said, no one else is reporting this. And Wikipedia, who update pages just minutes after a prominent person passes, still talks about him in present tense and provides no date of death.  :shrug:

I have to admit not having heard of most of the people on the list. Sad to hear that Sandra Crouch had died, but being in her 80s was a good lifespan. Sandra sang with her twin brother, Andrae', in the 1970s CCM group "Andrae' Crouch and the Disciples". A bit later in life she and Andrae' co-pastored a Church of God in Christ (a majority-black Pentecostal-Holiness denomination) church in the LA area.

One of the nice things most news agencies do between now and NYE is a remembrance piece with lots of photos of those who have shuffled off this mortal coil this past year.

I forgot so many of the people who died this year died.
