Released hostage Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, said Tuesday she “went through hell” during her abduction by rampaging Hamas terrorists, being moved though a “spiderweb” of muddy tunnels before starting more than two weeks as a captive in Gaza.

AFP reports Lifshitz was a resident of Nir Oz kibbutz, one of the Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip which Hamas militants brutally attacked on October 7.

Some 180 of the kibbutz’s 400 residents were killed or abducted in the raid which left mass rape, torture and the slaughter of civilians in its wake.

IDF makes direct appeal to Palestinians for information on hostages


The Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday it has dropped leaflets in the Gaza Strip making a direct appeal to Palestinians to provide Israel with information on captives held by Hamas.

“If you want a better future for you and your children, take action and provide us with solid and useful information as soon as possible regarding the hostages in your area,” the leaflet reads.

The Israelis are offering protection and even a monetary award to any Palestinian who comes forward with verifiable information leading to the rescue of an Israeli hostage.

“The Israeli army assures you that it will put forth maximum effort to provide you and your home with security, as well as a financial reward,” the leaflet says, guaranteeing "complete confidentiality."

The message contains a QR code, phone number and contact info on Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal for those with information to confidentially share it with the Israelis.

Obama says any Israeli military strategy that ignores human costs 'could ultimately backfire'

Former President Obama is warning that any strategy the Israeli military takes in its war against Hamas that ignores the danger to civilians "could ultimately backfire."

Obama made the remark in a lengthy statement posted on Medium, where he said "Israel has a right to defend its citizens against such wanton violence" perpetrated by the Palestinian terrorist group and that he fully supports "President Biden’s call for the United States to support our long-time ally in going after Hamas, dismantling its military capabilities, and facilitating the safe return of hundreds of hostages to their families."

"Still, the world is watching closely as events in the region unfold, and any Israeli military strategy that ignores the human costs could ultimately backfire," Obama said. "Already, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the bombing of Gaza, many of them children. Hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes. 

"The Israeli government’s decision to cut off food, water and electricity to a captive civilian population threatens not only to worsen a growing humanitarian crisis; it could further harden Palestinian attitudes for generations, erode global support for Israel, play into the hands of Israel’s enemies, and undermine long term efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region," he added.

The comments come as Israel has built up its military presence along the Gaza border ahead of a possible ground invasion into the territory.

Israeli forces strikes over 400 terrorist targets in 24-hour

The IDF shared that they have struck over 400 terrorist targets over the past 24 hours.

The targets taken out by the IDF include "Hamas gunmen setting up to fire rockets in Israel's direction, an operational tunnel shaft allowing Israel to be infiltrated through the sea, and Hamas command centers and staging armaments in Mosques," the branch wrote on X.

"The IDF will continue operating in order to ensure the safety of innocent civilians."

Tuesday marked the 18th day of Israel's counteroffensive against Hamas since the attacks on Israel on Oct. 7.

An Israel Defense Forces unit made up entirely of female troops eliminated nearly 100 Hamas terrorists, according to their commander — who cited it as proof there “are no more doubts about female combat soldiers.”

Israeli Caracal Battalion commander Lt.-Col. Or Ben-Yehuda praised the unit for their bravery in the southern Gaza Strip where they took down approximately 100 Hamas terrorists, The Jerusalem Post reported.

After the fighting broke out on Oct. 7, Ben-Yehuda received a message reporting an infiltration of heavily armed terrorists near Sufa and Nirim and told her soldiers: “We are going out to eliminate terrorists. Infiltration into Israel is happening, and it’s spreading.”

“Stay alert. We might cross paths. We are a strong squad,” she told her unit as they headed to Sufa.

Combat between the female battalion and the terrorists lasted nearly four hours and included large firefights. It took the IDF about 14 hours altogether to secure the base.

UN Secretary-General appears to sympathize with Hamas, says terror attacks 'did not happen in a vacuum'

Israeli officials are furious after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appeared to give credence Hamas' catastrophic surprise terrorist attack on their nation, which has resulted in over 1,400 deaths and 200 kidnappings -- including of elderly and children-- the burning and mutilation of babies, women's battered bodies being dragged through the streets, and over 5,000 wounded in their country.

“It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum,” Guterres said.


The UN Secretary-General went on to say “The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation, ” and that their land has been "devoured by settlements," The Times of Israel reports.

Guterres ended his remarks by saying "the grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the appalling attacks by Hamas," before saying that the terror group's "appalling" actions can not "justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.”

Guterres remarks were met with widespread outcry by Israeli officials.

Israeli envoy to the UN Gilad Erdan said the Secretary-General's "shocking... horrible," remarks "constitute a justification for terrorism and murder."

Erdan went on to lambast the UN head saying he is " totally detached from the reality of our region.”

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen spoke out against the UN chief at a special Security Council session saying “Mr. Secretary General, in what world do you live?”

Cohen went on to play a recording of a Palestinian terrorist bragging of killing 10 Jews.

Cohen canceled a planned meeting with Guterres, and Israeli minister Benny Gantz said the UN head's comments constitute "dark times" and slammed him claiming he "condones terror."
