Israel vowed Friday to launch a full-scale military attack against Iran if its terror group Hezbollah joins the ongoing war, according to a report.

Nir Barkat, Israel’s Minister of Economy, warned that it would “eliminate Hezbollah,” their proxy terror group in Lebanon, if it follows through on threats to throw its military support behind Hamas.

“The plan of Iran is to attack Israel on all fronts. If we find they intend to target Israel, we will not just retaliate to those fronts, but we will go to the head of the snake, which is Iran,” Barkat told the Daily Mail.

“The Ayatollahs in Iran are not going to sleep good at night, we are going to make sure they pay a heavy price if, God forbid, they open the northern front.”

Hezbollah has been exchanging fire with Israeli forces on the Lebanese border over the past two weeks in retaliation against the Israel Defense Force’s unrelenting bombing of the Gaza Strip.

U.S. sending U.S. carrier strike group, additional air defense systems to Persian Gulf

As tensions heighten in the Middle East amid the escalating Israel-Hamas war, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced late Saturday that the U.S. will redeploy one of its strike groups to the Persian Gulf, as well as send additional air defense systems to the region.

Austin also said that he has placed additional U.S. forces on "prepare to deploy orders," but did not detail how many. Austin earlier this week ordered 2,000 troops to be prepared to deploy to the Middle East.

The latest decision followed "detailed discussions with President Biden on recent escalations by Iran and its proxy forces across the Middle East," Austin said in a statement.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and its strike group — which last weekend Austin had announced was being deployed to the eastern Mediterranean Sea to join the USS Gerald R. Ford — will instead be heading to the Persian Gulf, Austin disclosed Saturday. 

Austin also said he ordered a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile battery, and Patriot missile defense system battalions, to the Persian Gulf as well.

 Hamas blocking Americans from leaving Gaza: Blinken

Hamas is preventing Americans and other foreign nationals from exiting the Gaza Strip, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday.

“The ball is in the Hamas’ court in terms of letting people who want to leave — civilians from third countries including Americans,” Blinken told CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

When pressed about whether Hamas was preventing Americans from leaving Gaza, the US’s top diplomat responded, “That’s correct.

“We have US personnel on the other side of the border in Egypt, consular personell” he said, declining to outright specify whether any US personnel is presently in Gaza.

Blinken declined to say whether Hamas had taken American hostages or if other terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip, such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad, had some of them.

President Biden spoke on the phone Saturday with freed Americans Judith Raanan, 59, and her 17-year-old daughter Natalie, who were recently released from captivity in Gaza.

Israel is expected to mount a ground invasion of Gaza imminently.

US senators meet with families of hostages taken by Hamas, call for Hamas to 'be destroyed'

A bipartisan group of U.S. senators reemphasized their support for Israel's war agaisnt Hamas during a trip on Sunday.

Led by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the Senators met with Israeli officials and were shown footage of Hamas' unprecedented October 7 assault on Isreal, which left at least 1,400 people dead. Each of them spoke in turn following their meetings with Israeli officials and the families of hostages taken by Hamas.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said he had rarely seen a group of U.S. senators so "moved" and "inspired" than he did Sunday morning. He assured Israel that it has his full support in its war against Hamas terrorists.

He went on to offer his support for the Palestinian people, who he says are also victims of Hamas.

Each of the senators also offered a warning to Iran not to intervene in the conflict, either directly or through its terrorist proxies like Hezbollah.

Second convoy of aid has entered Gaza, Egyptian media says



A convoy of 17 trucks crossed the Egyptian border into Gaza carrying aid for civilians amid Israel's war against Hamas on Sunday, according to Egyptian state media.

The convoy would be the second aid package to arrive in Gaza since Israel imposed a blockade on the region. Israeli first announced last week that it would allow Egypt to deliver supplies.

The report comes as the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees says it will run out of fuel in Gaza by Wednesday. It is unclear whether the 2nd convoy carried any fuel, as the first did not.

Israel has appeared poised for an invasion of Gaza for more than a week, but no order has come down to begin a ground operation.
