Finland unveiled plans for a full ban on property acquisitions by some foreign nationals as security concerns surfaced over purchases with links to Russia near critical infrastructure.

Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen on Monday presented a proposal to stop Russians from making any acquisitions in the Nordic NATO member that shares the bloc’s longest land border with its main adversary. A draft law is expected to be submitted to the parliament before the year-end.

“This is based on the war of aggression conducted by Russia and the assessment made about it,” Hakkanen told reporters in Helsinki, while adding that the proposal won’t explicitly name the neighboring country.

The law would apply to citizens of countries whose homeland has “violated the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of another state and could threaten Finland’s security.” The ban would also involve legal entities “domiciled in the territory of such a state or who are owned or influenced by a citizen or entity of such a state,” the statement said.  .  .

A new analysis by OSINT researcher Richard Vereker states that in August, only 50 tanks of the Russian Armed Forces were visually confirmed
to have been lost, about half as many as in July. This correlates with data from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which also publishes much
smaller losses of Russian tanks. Russian commanders have sharply reduced the use of armored vehicles for their attacks, and prefer to throw infantry into
battle, which is not covered by armor. Vereker also noted a further reduction in the share of losses of the most common Russian tank, the T-72, to only 27%,
with an increase in the number of T-90 losses. However, he also highlighted an increase in the share of losses of tanks whose type could not be determined.

Yes, they are advancing near Povrovsk.  Ukraine is rationing shells again.  There seems to be a very large divide between announcing arms shipments to Ukraine and actually sending arms shipments to Ukraine.

This here isn't helping.  For the cost of one of these missiles, one can purchase 1,000 suicide drones.  Russia has run out of armor.  Ukraine desperately needs infantry-destroying drones. But a politician can get much better kickbacks from Raytheon and Lockheed for $200,000 missiles in Pennsylvania than some drone maker gets for $200 grenade-dropping drones.

President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to hold "Russian scum" accountable for the attack on a military education facility and nearby hospital, which killed at least 41 and wounded another 180.

The strike triggered anger on Ukrainian social media after unconfirmed reports said it had targeted an outdoor military ceremony, with many blaming reckless behavior from officials who allowed the event to take place despite the threat of Russian attacks.

Zelensky said he had ordered a "full and prompt investigation into all the circumstances of what happened."
"More than 180 people were injured. Unfortunately, there are many dead. As of now, 41 people have been reported dead," Zelensky said in a post on social media.

Two Russian ballistic missiles hit the hospital and an educational institution, partially destroying one of the buildings, Zelensky said.

"The time interval between the alarm and the arrival of the deadly missiles was so short that it caught people in the middle of evacuating to the bomb shelter," the defense ministry said.

Urgent work to accelerate the delivery of the UK’s military support for Ukraine will be discussed between the Defence Secretary and his counterpart, Rustem Umerov, during a visit to London today.

The visit comes during a milestone moment in international support for Ukraine, with eight countries from across the world having now joined the UK to provide more than £1 billion to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), in a significant show of unity from Ukraine’s allies.

It comes after the Prime Minister announced the IFU’s largest ever support package at the NATO Summit in July, with a £300m contract to supply 152mm artillery shells to supply Ukraine’s Soviet-era guns. He also confirmed £3bn of UK aid for Ukraine per year for as long as it takes.

The Defence Secretary confirmed today the £300m contract has now been signed and is expected to deliver thousands of shells before the end of the year – providing a significant boost for Ukraine’s stockpiles and aligning with the Government’s acceleration of military support deliveries.

Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Norway all confirmed their intent this summer to invest additional money in the Fund to purchase more drones to help on the frontline, as well as vital air defence capabilities to help shield Ukraine’s people and key infrastructure from relentless Russian bombardment.

Romanian Senate approves transfer of Patriot system to Ukraine

UKRAINE, Sep 3 — The upper house of the Romanian parliament, the Senate, on Monday, September 2, approved a government bill on transferring the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine, reports Digi24.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received Patriot air defense systems from the United States, Romania, Germany, and the Netherlands. Patriot systems can effectively shoot down various types of Russian missiles, including ballistic and cruise missiles.

101 Romanian senators voted in favor of the government’s draft law on transferring the air defense system to Ukraine, 13 voted against it, and two abstained.

The President of the Senate Defense Committee, Nicoleta Pauliuc, expressed hope that the draft law will pass the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body, by the end of the week.

Pauliuc emphasized that the transfer of the Patriot air defense system “doesn’t mean that Romania will be left without protection” because Bucharest has seven other such systems.  .  .  .

According to the Regional Center for Human Rights, Russian-installed authorities deported 40,000 children from occupied Ukrainian territories during the summer of 2024.

According to the statements of the representatives of the occupation administrations, during the summer season of 2024, 40,000 Ukrainian children were taken to "re-education camps" as part of the "Useful Vacations" project. This is almost twice as much as last year.

The Regional Center for Human Rights has documented the relocation of Ukrainian children to various locations across Russia, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, and Tula. Some facilities are located as far as 8,000 kilometers (4,970 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

The Center’s analysts have identified 13 re-education camps in occupied Ukrainian territories, 18 in Belarus, and 67 in Russia. The curriculum at these camps includes training in shooting with automatic rifles, parachuting, drone operation, and landmine placement. Activities at these camps reportedly involve intense propaganda sessions designed to foster loyalty to Russia, along with military training.

The Human Rights Center reports that since the occupation of Crimea, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Russian Federation has been actively developing a network of "re-education camps", which today reaches hundreds of institutions. Their goal is to eradicate national identity, forcibly assimilate Ukrainian children and turn them into a resource for achieving their own geopolitical interests.

Gazprom Neft's Moscow Oil Refinery has halted operations at its Euro+ refining unit following a fire triggered by what is believed to be a large-scale drone attack on September 1, according to Reuters.

Reports indicate that numerous drones targeted several Russian regions, including Moscow, during the night of September 1. Moscow Mayor Sobyanin reported that one drone was shot down near the refinery, and a fire caused damage to one of the plant's buildings, as noted by Russia's state-owned Ria Novosti.

Reuters sources revealed that the Euro+ unit, which constitutes about 50 percent of the refinery's capacity, might resume operations within five to six days once repairs are completed.

Last year, the Moscow plant processed 11.6 million tons of crude oil, but the extent of the damage's impact on refining capabilities remains unclear.

Their goal is to eradicate national identity, forcibly assimilate Ukrainian children and turn them into a resource for achieving their own geopolitical interests.

A Russian MP has questioned official accounts of Ukraine's incursion into Kursk, echoing concerns by Kremlin propagandists about Moscow's response to Kyiv's push into Russian territory that started a month ago.

Nationalist politician Yevgeny Fedorov, who is coordinator of Russia's National Liberation Movement, which champions the territorial integrity of the state, criticized the official narrative from Moscow, which has downplayed Ukraine's incursion.

Fedorov added how there was no mention of NATO troops being thrown out of Kursk, repeating Moscow's rhetoric claiming the bloc's involvement in the push. However, NATO said it had no warning and played no role in the first breach and capture of Russian territory since World War II.  .  .
