That makes me sad, knowing the intense pleasure I get from popping the bubbles one by one.
You're everywhere I go, I am not alone
You call me as Your own to know You and be known.
You are holy!
And I fall down on my knees.
I can feel Your presence here with me.
Suddenly I'm lost within Your beauty,
Caught up in the wonder of Your touch.
Here in this moment I surrender to Your love.

No, I mean actual starving... Something I found out going to subsistence living... The pantry is fat in the winter, and the freezers all full... You have to be careful with excess when it's all too easy... but come February, the cupboards are showing some bare, and you have to get inventive... And many a homesteader thought they pulled through, only to find out it takes most things at least 6 weeks to grow... And what a torture to see green gardens with nothing in em...

I think that's where eating greens came from.  happy77

But... Lent is conveniently placed right when you don't have any dang food left anyway

Well, that's why you held back a little with the meals in the winter, at least the 'inside' folks did. The ones out working in the weather ate the lion's share. My Father in law (whom I never met--he died year before the wedding) would use lard or bacon grease like butter in the mornings, and while that likely contributed a mite to his bad heart. He was never fat, by all accounts and the pictures I have seen of him. Fat has been given a bad name by big ag and the Medical Industrial Complex, but it is a definite source of calories for working out in the cold. (Rheumatic fever went through his generation like crazy, too, and that might have been part of what killed him, too. )
How God must weep at humans' folly! Stand fast! God knows what he is doing!
Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

They are part of the doctorate program.

And meet frequently at Forrest Gump Hall for kicks.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
