I prefer Chopin
Chopin: Polonaise No.6 in A flat, Op.53 -"Heroic"
I love Beethoven, but I'm more of a Chopin guy (I especially like his first Ballade), with Brahms and Rachmaninoff tied for number 2 in my book.
BTW, Helene Grimaud did a surprisingly good performance of Ballade No.1 when she was only about 17 years old (see youtube).
Female pianists, BTW, are surging in our day. (Check out Valentina Lisitsa, probably the world's foremost Rachmaninoff pianist at this time. She has a big following on Youtube, with a meteoric rise in the concert world after she made a self-funded CD with the London Symphony. Her videotaped recording session of the 18th Variation of Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini is especially nice.)
