How about those Froggies! My brother went to TCU on an athletic scholarship.  We used to go watch TCU football when they were HORRIBLE and there were only a very few fans in the stands.

Go frogs!

Tulane Green Wave beats the University of Spoiled Children Prettyboys in the Cotton Bowl.

No way is the Bills/Bengals game going to continue...

Safety Damar Hamlin, 24, collapsed after a routine play.

Moderna claims another...

Very scary situation in Cincinnati tonight. Buffalo defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed after a hit and had to be resuscitated. Game is suspended until further notice.

Why no update from the hospital?

He's gone...unable to breathe without machine.  They'll probably announce it once the stadium is emptied.

The consensus seems to be commotio cordis, which happens when a person takes a blow to the chest just as the heart is beating, causing a cardiac arrest. It's happened a few times, most recently in the NFL in 1971, a guy named Chuck Hughes.

A college classmate, his son and grandson are at the game. A retired pastor and Bills fan, he led the people in his section of the stands in prayer.

The hit didn't look that severe, but the receiver's shoulder seems to have caught him in just the spot on his chest to traumatize the heart and cause it to stop beating. It's hard not to wonder whether vaccination did any damage (or was a factor at all). 24-year-olds should not collapse to the ground. A 28 y/o coworker of mine died suddenly of an undiagnosed heart condition - obviously not a vax situation. I think we can wait for clarification.

Prayers up for Damar Hamlin and his family.  To say it's related to the vaccine at this point is ridiculous.

Because—and I know my name probably doesn't carry a lot of weight around here on this topic because of my stance on a lot of the anti-vax stuff that gets tossed about on here —we have no idea about Hamlin's vaccination record. Which vaccine(s) he took, how many doses, when those doses happened.

What we do know is that Hamlin has been playing throughout the season and much of last without any sign of heart issues.

We do know that football players can, and rarely do, take blows that can be fatal. Football is a contact sport; these things happen.

We do know that not a single adult American football player has died of a circulatory-related issue since before the vaccine was released in 2021. If this were a real phenomenon, we'd've seen it in less than the full year and a half since the vaccines were released, especially given how quickly the vaccines' intended effects have faded.

His name was Uche Nwaneri. He was 38 years old, and collapsed from a heart attack. Although his death was announced today, I think it actually happened a couple of days ago. Link from Twitter:

No. I'm not. But that doesn't preclude my asking real serious questions that, if everything were on the up and up, would get real serious answers without any problems.

In order to play in the NFL, you had to be vaccinated.

Aaron Rogers counterfeits his 'paper's.

Don't you remember?

That said Brian Kilmead just talked about a case where the heart area is hit in between beats....need a defibrillator asap

Let's assume his heart stopped beating and that he immediately went unconscious from lack of blood flow to the brain.  So the questions are

  • How much time elapsed between his collapse and CPR being initiated?

  • Was a defibrillator used on the field?

  • Was it successful in restarting his heart?

funny you should mention that.

An ESPN analyst hopped onto Twitter, one with an obviously Italian name, and demanded they resume the game because he had a parlay riding on the result.

You got that right.  Bennett has ice water in his veins.  Back to back national championships.  And to think that he was a walk-on his freshman year.

In the Heisman vote, Bennett came in 4th behind Caleb Williams, Max Duggan, and C.J. Stroud.

All I know is that Georgia (there only because Ohio State missed a last second field goal in the playoff game) came ready to play last night and TCU obviously did not.

The Bears won't draft Bennett.  Most likely, the Texans will give up their first round pick next year to trade up, and then draft the person they could have had at #2 for more money.

The pro football graveyard is littered with old quarterbacks who blew out their college-age competition but hit a brick wall in the pros. Chris Wienke and Josh Booty are two of the most recent.

I'm willing to bet that Stetson Bennett is not going to be the next great NFL star.

As an arrogant pr!ck?...  Yeah.

As a football player, he's amassed records and championships that doubtful will ever be broken.  If that's sucky, I'd take  the suction any day.

LOLOLOL....heck I think either you or I could have made 1 out of 4...lol.  I'd venture to guess the Cowgirls have another kicker against the 49er's.  I actually do feel sorry for Brady for having to retire after a horrible performance.

As a football player, he has always been blessed with a great offensive line, a solid defense on the other side of the ball, and a gift for completing 5-yd passes to completely open receivers.  His yards per catch ratio may be the lowest of any QB in NFL history.

As a football player, he has always been blessed with a great offensive line, a solid defense on the other side of the ball, and a gift for completing 5-yd passes to completely open receivers.  His yards per catch ratio may be the lowest of any QB in NFL history.

I don't like the guy, but 89K passing yards and 7 rings?  That's a lot of 5 yd. passes.  :silly:, and second tier players don't deliver in the clutch like he does.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I actually do feel sorry for Brady for having to retire after a horrible performance.
@mrpotatohead
I think he'll be back one more year.  Not with the Bucs.  His ego is writing checks his body can't cash.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Supposedly, Brady chose football over his family. Not smart, especially considering this season's mediocrity.

I'm getting the feeling the NFL really wanted to be sure KC and Philadelphia won.

Cowgirls lose.  Life is good.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-
