Does the NFL have any plans to make footballs from plants?  Or, at least make footballs from humanely raised organic free range pigs?

I think it will be a race between the NY Jets and NE Patriots to finish at the bottom of the AFC East.

The reluctance to formally name offensive and defensive coordinators is a tell that they have nothing.

This is another "rebuilding" year that Brady was desperate to avoid in the waning days of his career, hence, one reason why he left.

Von Miller leaves SuperBowl Champion RAMS to join the BILLS

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- There's a voice in Von Miller's head during the big moments. At the end of games, when his team needs a play and everything is on the line.

Up by 3 with 1:25 left in Super Bowl LVI last February, the Los Angeles Rams defense needed a stop. All game long, Miller -- then a Rams outside linebacker -- had been setting the Cincinnati Bengals up to use his ghost move in the pass rush.

Finally, it was time to unleash it.

"You can do it. You are a pro. This is what you were made for," Miller likes to tell himself.

"It's that voice in your head. I want to do everything I possibly can to put myself in a good situation," Miller said. "It's all positive talk cause I've done everything I possibly could do to be successful."

Miller and defensive tackle Aaron Donald combined for four sacks and 11 QB pressures in the Super Bowl victory. Miller, who tied Charles Haley for the most career sacks in Super Bowl history (4.5), thrived in the postseason when Los Angeles needed him most -- his postseason pass rush win rate of 41.5% was the highest by a player in a single postseason (with a minimum of 30 pass rush plays) since ESPN started tracking that metric in 2017

Considering they were a wild-card team this past year, that surprises me a little bit. You'd think that they'd have a little more faith in the team they have after that. I mean, even Brady had years where he was bounced early in the playoffs.

But then again, a big function of that is the division competition and Buffalo is STACKED (which I never thought I'd ever see them be favorites; I'm waiting for how this can go wrong, because it ALWAYS seems to), plus Miami is a wildcard contender, anyway. The Jets, well, they're gonna Jets.

WOW!

The Buffalo Bills take the opening drive of the season and 'walk' into the end zone

Is this an omen?  Who in the hell needs THAT kind of pressure and expectation at THIS time??

As GHWB might say: "Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture".   happy77

Iowa and South Dakota State set football back 100 years...

No touchdowns were scored in this game.

Did you catch some of the pregame festivities last night?

Marv Levy, 97 years young, showed up with Kelly, Bruce and several others.

You have to say this about the Bills Mafia: it's a family, from the fans through the alumni and the current team. You just don't get that kind of loyalty very many other places.

@jmyrlefuller

First, you have to understand the winter elements in Western New York on Lake Erie.

Add the fact, it's an open air stadium not a dome.

The Bills Mafia are simply very loyal fans who have cried for decades and now have started to smile and feel good.
And every woman I know is in love with Josh Allen.  Jersey and all!

Jim Kelly and Levy took the BILLS to 4 CONSECUTIVE SUPER BOWLS!!!

To accomplish that feat in contrast with current statistics...truly awesome.

The only negative about the BILLS' franchise is what O.J. Simpson did to the brand.

I think the Bills are the team to beat in the AFC East.

The Patriots having two offensive co-ordinators is a terrible idea.  They might be able to make a run for a Wild Card if their defense improves during the season, and they avoid the injury bug.

Coach Belichick was a defensive coach under Bill Parcells.  Offense is not his strong point.

Now if they can only stay healthy!

Injuries are always the wildcard when it comes to success. And lately the Bills have been lucky. But this year, they've had quite a few.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot...

Just found out that the BILL-DOLPHINS game at 1PM on CBS will NOT be a nationally televised game.

Think here in D.C. we'll get the RAVENS-PATRIOTS (to soothe the Balt/Wash corridor/region)
or the CHIEFS-COLTS...and who gives a sh*t about that one??  LOL!

Talk about a comeback. Bills looked dead in the water in the first half, but you have to give credit to their coaching staff because they have a knack for making killer second-half adjustments. And of course, having Josh Allen doesn't hurt.

That makes the whole Miami situation look even worse. There were bodies dropping all over in last week's game, including their own QB, but they want to pretend that it never happened. Then this past Thursday, he gets another hit to the head.

The Texans actually won a game yesterday.
The Jaguars gave it to them with a blatant and stupid four quarter roughing the passer penalty, but, hey, I'll take it!

Most in Pittsburgh believe Tomlin's job is not in jeopardy, no matter how poorly the team plays. The owners - the Rooney family - tend to stick with their head coaches a long time.

Honestly felt sorry for him in his post-game media conference.

He said that he knew what they (Bills) were capable of, in their trouncing of the Titans in week 2 (41-7) and the RAMS in week 1 (31-10)..and when a reporter asked what areas of the defense needed to be addressed???

LOL!  He said, "We just got our asses kicked!"

With the score already 10-3 BILLS, we needed to give up trying to get the BILLS/STEELERS game on TV
and head to the Anchor Bar in Frederick, Maryland, which is a franchise location for the Anchor Bar in Buffalo
which is the birthplace of "Chicken Wings".  Huge building with about 40 screens, etc..

Damned traffic...by the time we got to the bar to order 20 minutes had passed and the BILLS were now ahead 31-3...BEFORE HALFTIME!!

I asked the 3 guys sitting on their stools WTF happened...they said "We don't know but they keep playing that BLEEPING song every 5 MINUTES!!"

Watching some of the RAVENS vs GIANTS game on CBS.

Currently 7-7 late in the 2nd quarter.

Some observations:

1) The Giants are on fire!

However, do they look masterful because as the CBS pregame panel suggested...the Ravens 'Super' defense is no longer "Super"?

2) I would NOT pay Lamar Jackson what he wants and would let him go "free agency"

The statistics show that he's #1 in QB rushing yards and #3 in passing yds.  With his penchant to go "Sandlot" too often, he's going to get hurt, ala RGIII...and you'll be paying that contract for nothing in return.

... watching the Patriots vs Browns game ... mostly boring.  The 3rd string Patriots quarterback, Bailey Zappe, is holding his own on the field.  As long as the Patriots keep playing terrible teams, they may finish the season above .500.

Meanwhile in college football... two of the remaining undefeated teams in the top conferences are, as everyone predicted /sarc... Tennessee and Syracuse.

Alabama, I'm sure, will weasel its way back into the CFP somehow.

Looking like the Bills are for real....
Survived a wave of injuries, knocked off the Chiefs... they're legit contenders. It's hard to believe, I mean, being from Buffalo, where you're always expecting the other shoe to drop and SOMETHING to go wrong.

But Josh Allen... that guy's a unicorn. And he's perfect for Buffalo. And the team they've built here... it's deep. Their second team is just as much of a threat as their first team. You have to think that the system is playing a role: look at what the Giants are doing when Brian Daboll brought it there, with arguably a LOT less talent. McDermott has built something special.

Dare I say it, but if there is any year where the Bills are finally going to win that Lombardi, this is their best shot.

Alabama, I'm sure, will weasel its way back into the CFP somehow.

They've got LSU on the road (which is to their advantage).  Then Ole Miss at Oxford.  And finally Auburn at home.  If they beat LSU and Ole Miss, they go to the SEC Championship game to likely face the winner of Georgia-Tennessee.  Win that (and the Auburn game), and they are likely back in.

Georgia-Tennessee game is next weekend.  But it would not shock me to see Tennessee lose to Kentucky tomorrow.

Today:

Georgia v. Tennessee

College Football Playoffs

Two AWESOME games this evening.  The Big 10 had two teams in the 4-team playoff, and both lost.

Georgia and TCU in the final.

I didn't stay up for the end of the game, but am pleased to learn OSU lost. Woo hoo.

Absolutely. I came back from my annual performing gig New Year's Eve to catch the last few minutes of the OSU-UGA game. What a contest.

And you have to feel a little bit bad for Noah Ruggles. I mean, a 50-yard game-winning kick to advance to the national championship is a lot to ask at the college level, but to shank it as badly as he did... ouch.
