Peter Strzok: ‘The American Public Should Trust’ the FBI in Mar-a-Lago Raid

Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former FBI agent Peter Strzok weighed in on the department’s recent raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

Trump described the raid as putting his home “under siege” in a move “that has never happened to a President of the United States before.”

Host Joe Scarborough asked Strzok if there was any reason the American people should not trust the FBI.

Strzok said that “the American public should trust what the FBI is doing” in seizing documents from Trump’s home.

“[A]bsolutely, the American public should trust what the FBI is doing,” Strzok advised.

If true, this is an outrageous overreach. Passports can be ordered by a court seized once an individual is indicted based upon concerns they may be a flight risk. I have never seen passports seized pursuant to search warrant except where the target used fake passports.

Alleged Passport Seizure at Mar-a-Lago Could Undermine Trump’s Civil Rights

President Donald Trump’s claim that his “passports” were seized in the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago last week could have major legal implications for any investigation into him: it could mean his Fourth Amendment rights were violated in the search.

As Breitbart News reported earlier Monday, former President Trump announced on Truth Social: “In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else. This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country. Third World!”

The unusual — and perhaps accidental — taking of Trump’s passports could mean that the Department of Justice (DOJ) would be unable to use at least some of the materials seized in the the raid in any prosecution of the former president. Already, it has risked violating his Sixth Amendment rights by seizing materials that may including privileged attorney-client communications, which are meant to be shielded from investigations.

The Fourth Amendment reads:

    The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

From what venue?  Where did these crimes actually occur?  From everything I've seen, all these documents were sent to his house in Florida.  So any alleged crime had to have occurred there.  Yet they have formed a double-secret grand jury inside the DC Beltway.  Is there any part of the Constitution that they aren't pissing on yet?

It could lead the way towards a (very carefully choosing my words) "Re-Constitution" of the [now corrupt] American government.

Let's imagine for a moment that the person is a member of his Secret Service detail.  If this agent can't be trusted to act in good faith with the person he is sworn to protect, then how can he be trusted to protect his life?  Let's say a gunman approaches Trump on the street.  Will this agent risk his life to protect the President?  Or will he simply step aside and tell the gunman to have at it?

Trump needs to know he can count on the people around him.
