LOL! I don't think we did that, but I'm pretty sure several students' pick-up trucks in the high school parking lot had gun racks, some with guns. I think some students went dove or pheasant hunting after school.
Long after my grade school years, and 2000 miles from where I grew up, it was commonplace to see rifle racks in the back of (often unlocked) pickups in the High School Parking lot. There are precious few hours here after school to go hunting, and there'd be everything from shotguns for pheasant to scoped rifles for deer/antelope, to even early ARs for hunting gophers. If there was a faculty member talking with someone out there they were likely talking firearms or hunting.
Now, no. Now the paranoia is palpable in schools, a product of Leftist fear mongering and hoplophobia and a generation that has been 'counseled' and given medication instead of being taught life skills.
