Roger Goodell backs affirmative action in NFL: Urges teams to hire Colin Kaepernick
June 16, 2020 | Samantha Chang
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell tacitly endorsed affirmative action by browbeating National Football League teams to hire middling quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who started his career as a second-round draft pick.
Kaepernick, 32, has not played since 2016, when he destroyed his career with the San Francisco 49ers by dragging toxic politics onto the football field after disrespecting the national anthem.
Goodell recently caved to outrage mobs by expressing support for the anti-police, anti-white Black Lives Matter movement.
Now, he’s urging reluctant NFL teams to hire Kaepernick, who hasn’t played pro football for four years.
“If he wants to resume his career in the NFL, then it’s gonna take a team to make that decision,†Goodell told ESPN. “I welcome that, support a club making that decision and encourage them to do that.â€
