Can you provide a link for that claim?  Not just a worse risk but any risk at all?
A very small percentage of the serious cases do involve otherwise healthy people. Not sure whether any of the deaths involved young and/or healthy individuals. Will try to find stats.

New York City To Release Inmates Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

New York is the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in America and the nation watches to see the response in solidarity with that city and state but also to get a preview of what is coming for the rest of us.

New York Governor Cuomo announced the state is doing thousands of tests now after an enormous effort to get that system on track.

Trump has sent a hospital ship to help with the expected burden on its health care system.

More:  https://newsthud.com/new-york-city-to-release-inmates-due-to-coronavirus-outbreak/  summarizing from the NY Post:   https://nypost.com/2020/03/18/nyc-to-begin-releasing-inmates-amid-coronavirus-outbreak/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPFacebook&utm_medium=SocialFlow&sr_share=facebook

It's a hard call, if inmates get sick and die, I'm sure the institutions can be sued.

Symptom: Shortness of breath along with what seems to go along with a "chest tightness", I can see what that would look like.

Lots of details too, such as if the virus stays in the upper lung vs. the lower lung which I believe is like pneumonia  (worse).

Immune system, again, I'm hitting the vitamin C, airborne chewable tablets which has zinc too or Emergen-C seem to be decent.  Totally unproven, just some of what I'm doing.

I've read that those zinc lozenges may be helpful with viruses. I was at a church meeting last night and one of the members - a family medicine practitioner - urged use of Zicam or similar products.

Airborne is also very good.  It has loads of Vitamin C (and other vitamins), zinc, magnesium and other goodies.  It was developed by a school teacher who got tired of getting sick every fall.  (I used to do that too when I was teaching).

We take it daily and almost never get sick from anything, and if we do, it's always a very mild version of a cold or whatever.....

There are gummies, fizzies and chewable versions of it.  I use any of the three.

It's a little pricey, but to me well worth it since it keeps me healthy and not in need of other OTC meds.

We now have a case in our county in Ohio.

89 known cases in the state, up from 3 a week ago.

So far, praise the Lord, no deaths.  But some hospitalized and very, very sick.

The state of Ohio is doing its best to flatten the curve of the spread of this 20x more communicable than flu disease.

Hospitals all over the country are low on protective gear for the first responders..... doctors, nurses, life-savers.

Keep praying for them and for us as a nation.

We have never seen anything of this nature before.  We are in uncharted territory.

We've been saying that all along.

And in return, we have been accused of 'bullying', 'making personal attacks', 'using innuendo', 'making ad hominems', and 'accusing others of trying to scare others with no back up'.

Quote
The report included no information about whether patients of any age had underlying risk factors, such as a chronic illness or a compromised immune system. So, it is impossible to determine whether the younger patients who were hospitalized were more susceptible to serious infection than most others in their age group.

There's the bugaboo in this. There is some critical data missing, data which may help the average person much more accurately assess their personal risk.  In Italy, those killed by the virus (99.2%) had either diabetes, High Blood Pressure, or a coronary condition--or a combination of those.

Similarly, we have relatively young people who exhibit those (and other) illnesses which may make them more susceptible to the virus. Every shrieking headline seems to have some critical information missing.

Yes, young people can catch the virus. That part isn't age dependent. However, the likelihood of developing heart disease, diabetes, or having High Blood Pressure generally increases with age, so that skews the age of those who become critically ill or die upwards. It does not remove risk from younger people who have those conditions.

Which is why I am speaking to the data, the holes in it as reported, the flaws in it as sampling goes, and they are legion.

You'd think people would be able to spot omissions and half-truths by now.

Anecdotal evidence is pretty useless in the face of statistics that are still way way low, and trillions being spent.

You may as well bring up anecdotal evidence of folks getting hit by traffic as they cross the street - As that has a greater chance of happening than dying of this virus.

That is a very significant piece of data and the sky-is-falling types fail to recognize that for what it means, which basically is healthy people have minimum health risk to virus exposure.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Anecdotal evidence is pretty useless in the face of statistics that are still way way low, and trillions being spent.

You may as well bring up anecdotal evidence of folks getting hit by traffic as they cross the street - As that has a greater chance of happening than dying of this virus.
I pray you are correct....

Thank goodness we won't see this again.

King County to put 200-bed field hospital on Shoreline soccer field amid coronavirus outbreak
March 18, 2020

Workers start building and setting up a temporary field hospital at a Shoreline soccer field on Wednesday. It will be for people who can’t safely remain in their homes or don’t have a home, according to the city. There will be multiple such hospitals throughout King County. A temporary field hospital for use by people unable to isolate and recover from COVID-19 in their own homes will be located at a soccer field in Shoreline, a city spokesman said.

The Shoreline Temporary Field Hospital, at 19030 First Ave. N.E., will provide up to 200 beds, according to the city website. It will house “people exposed to, at risk of exposure, or becoming ill with the novel coronavirus.”

“It’s basically to relieve pressure on the hospitals and to free up beds for critical patients,” said Eric Bratton, a city spokesman. The hospital will be on a turf soccer field that is on school district property but is leased by the city, Bratton said.

Sixteen people die per day, on average in the US from pedestrian/vehicle accidents. So far, the jaywalkers are ahead.

@mountaineer @DB

I am one of those that significantly lost sense of smell from overuse of zicam nasal spray from my years in Alaska.

Hydrogen sulfide seems to have the same effect.

Yep. My sense of smell is limited, and has been since I worked in a field back in the 80s where the flares went out all too often.

Anhydrous Ammonia (used to make blueprints) is also a smell killer. I delivered that stuff to engineering firms all over Houston, as a teenager.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Troodat.  It also shrinks money when liquified.  If you get a chance, drop a dollar bill into a vat of very cold liquid ammonia.  Pretty cool.

Hydrogen sulfide seems to have the same effect.

Hydrogen Sulfide is the only reason I am concerned by my loss of smell.  Often it is a benefit in life working around large men with high protein diets.

That's exactly what my doctor friend said last night was a possible side effect, and was why NOT to use it. I said, "That stinks."

DON'T USE a zinc spray. Just the lozenges. (pretty sure that's what I said).
