Grandpa dodges the howitzer . . . they get Tucker in a rundown toward the plate, put Brantley on intentionally to pitch to Bregman, and Bregman chops into an inning-ending forceout.

But it's 4-1, Astros, middle of the sixth . . .

Brad Peacock relieves for the Astros, gets a strikeout but back to back walks bring in Will Smith with the top of the Nats order coming up in the bottom of the sixth . . .

Smith dodges bullets and it remains 4-1, Astros after six full. The Nats keep putting on the pressure but they can't cash in so far.

Joe Ross on the mound for the Nats gets only the second 1-2-3 inning of the night.

4-1 Astros at the seventh-inning stretch . . .

First 1-2-3 inning for the Nats' bats, too . . .

4-1 Astros after seven full . . .

Nats pitcher Joe Ross takes a hot grounder off his foot from George Springer for a two-out infield hit . . . then gets Jose Altuve to shoot one right through him for an inning-ending ground out.

But it's still 4-1 Astros, mid-eighth . . .

Joe Smith survives a pinch-hit walk to Howie Kendrick and it's still 4-1, Astros after eight full . . .

.. . and of all people Wander Suero gets the Astros in order in the top of the ninth with a little help from a terrific leaping catch by Turner off Bregman's bullet liner.

4-1 Astros, middle of the ninth, last chance for the Nats tonight . . .

A jam shot bloop base hit to left center comes to nothing. The Nats go 0-for-10 with men on second or better for the first time in a Series since the '08 Phillies (and they went on to win that Series) . . .

The Astros take it, 4-1, ensuring at least a Game Five with Gerrit Cole back on the mound. Big props to the Astro pen for picking up where Zack Greinke left off.

The Nats still lead the Series, 2-1. We'll see you tomorrow evening.

Nice cap.  So much for unbiased objective baseball journalism.   :silly:

@EasyAce who are you predicting to win this years series?

Bravo to the Astros.  One thing I don't like is a 4-game sweep.  So boring to watch one team completely dominate.  This win makes the series far more interesting.

@Applewood I understand the ratings aren’t that good this year

@Gefn
The only thing I was willing to predict going in, and I'm still of that mind, was that it wouldn't be a short Series. Other than that, I learned a long time ago that the only thing about baseball that's predictable, especially postseason baseball, is how unpredictable it really is. Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a writer and analyst, not a clairvoyant.
