  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
No!  You don't get it!   I like most of Trump's policies that have brought jobs and prosperity.   I want to just lose the chaos so I can keep the prosperity.  I bear no ill will toward Donald Trump,  but the dynamic of history is using him in a dangerous way.

On a fundamental level,  we should not want the same thing the Democrats want.   The Democrats want Trump to be our nominee.  Think about it.
I have thought about it. The Democrats, the MSM, and half the faces in tinseltown thrive on chaos, and it really didn't matter WHO beat Hillary, this stuff was going to happen because if they can't have their way, they are going to have a collective tantrum.

Eff 'em. No one said politics would ever be neat and clean, and if they want to hold their breath until they turn blue and pass out, by all means, DO!

We could use the peace and quiet to get things done.

Every, repeat, EVERY issue they have raised has been BS from the git-go.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I fail to see the point of a primary fight. Trump won the first time, he will probably win again. I don't see many Trump supporters who are unhappy with Trump (although they're disappointed with some stuff like immigration and such).

It doesn't appear you've been thinking about it.   It sounds like you're reacting emotionally to the hate the Dems have unleashed against the President and, by extension, "folks like you".    It seems to me like you prefer a war ("Eff 'em")  to another election.

This is what the current atmosphere has wrought - a lot of good folks convinced our fellow Americans are the enemy.   What this sort of shit does do is create the conditions for radicalism, with the Dems being able to get away with running full-throated socialists whose poisonous messages are concealed by the trope that Trump's defeat is all that matters.

It's not.  It's what replaces Trump that matters.    We are not helpless, you know.   There's an alternative to blind reaction under the banner of "Eff 'em", you know.

Civility is an overused term.  Nice guys finish last.

Believing it is ok for some congresswoman to say her constituents are non-Americans is the definition of an enemy of the American people.

And of course we are not helpless.  Where do you get that idea?

I always dreamed of Stormin' Norman Schwarzkopf in being our President.

Here's the part that matters:

When EVER have the Republicans run full-throated Conservatives, the natural enemy of liberalism?

There's the problem right there:

Liberalism is not winning on merit. It has no merit.
Liberalism wins because it has no opposition.

Yes, because we need a Bush/Dole/Bush/McCain/Romney style Pubbie.  I miss the days of all that caving sometimes.  It's just terrible having somebody stand up to the Rats once in a while.
I miss the sanity, the listening to voters, and passing laws with bi-partisan support...However the new corruption, reckless spending, broken promises, executive time, and divisive rhetoric is obviously popular with some.

I'm not seeing a lot of standing up to rats...I mean not much more than the standing up against the GOP.

I still wish anybody but Trump had won.  Even Jeb, and I agree somebody should primary Trump.

Keep in mind that nowadays "bipartisan" means both sides of the aisle are lining up to take their turn on the American People.

What was that about a train?

71% of respondents approve of the job Trump is doing with the economy in a latest poll, plus more people than not are with the president on border security.

On those two issues alone, President Trump is reelected.

Problem is, of those 71% how many voted for Trump previously and as well on border security??  He needs to expand his base.  The DEMS are fired up, they have a variety of candidates to choose from and stats show that they have a better rate of success in getting people signed up to vote.  Then we have the whole issue of voter fraud and corruption; something that hopefully the RNC is addressing and taking care of (yah, right).
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Conservatives have been on a general losing streak since the 1930's.  Reagan pushed back for a time, but his influence has started to wane.  The incrementalism of the left has lulled many ordinary Americans into seeing only small changes that seemed innocuous and beneficial, and they lost sight of the bigger picture of what was happening to the country.

The left's stealth campaign for a radical, leftist remake of the country can only be countered effectively when people are aware that it is happening.  So, the radicalism on the left you lament is actually a good thing.  It allows for a more honest debate where the true goals are discussed openly.

Well, sure.   The Dems' radicalization ought to be THE front and center issue of the 2020 campaign.   How socialism destroys prosperity.  How identity politics poisons the American ideal of a melting pot based on shared, secular values of equal opportunity and fair play.

But instead the signature issue of the 2020 campaign will be the fitness for office of Donald J. Trump.    The Dems are counting on him as the nominee,  to drive their voters to the polls and fool them that a referendum on one man will conceal their poisonous agenda.

So yes,  the Dems' radicalization gives us an issue.   But our re-nomination of Trump effectively takes it away.   Not because we cannot sound the warnings, but because Trump provides the distraction that the Dems want and need.

It is crazy to know full well what the Democrats most want, and proceed to give it to them.

Hey @Jazzhead a lot of fellow Americans ARE the enemy.  Unless you've been in a coma, you know by now this "current atmosphere" is the product of the collusion between the FBI, DOJ, DNC, mainstream media and our British allies to plot and execute a near perfect coup against a duly elected President of the United States.

One has to be a casualty of some twisted thinking to blame the object of the coup for the American citizen's negative reaction to it.  Damn twisted.

Hold that last thought for a moment....

You have to recognize reality.  Unless Trump chooses on his own not to run, either 1) Trump is going to be the nominee, or 2) whomever beats him in the primary (extremely unlikely) will inevitably alienate enough Trump supporters that he/she will certainly lose in the general election.

Therefore, what Democrats "most want" is for other Republicans to turn on Trump, and expend a ton of energy/effort in trashing him during the GOP primaries.  That will give them the best chance to defeat Trump in the general election, and hopefully (in their view) elect a truly radical leftist such as Bernie.  So, I'd suggest it is those who are engaging in the quixotic attempt to sabotage Trump for the 2020 nomination who are making it that much more likely for the radical left to gain control of the government.

That's not to say that every Republican has to openly support Trump even if they despise him.  It is just that they should recognize whose interests they are really serving if they choose to spend all that time, effort, and money trying to tear him down.

Yeah, I don't see how AOC, and her ilk -- including the millions who support her -- are not the enemies of many of the core principles on which this country was founded.  They truly wish to set this country on the same path n which Venezuela started when Chavez was elected.  Class warfare, etc...e

And I decry that coup the same as you do.    The Democrats are profoundly un-American in refusing to accept the results of a free and fair election.   I have said so on this board time and again.   And I've defended Trump's policies time and again, as well.

The place for "coups" is at the ballot box.    My views on Trump and 2020 have everything to do with denying the Dems their fantasy of running against Trump in order to install a socialist and race hustler in the White House.

I agree.    And that's why I cannot support Trump for re-nomination.  We need someone who can advance his meritorious policies but without the chaos and baggage.   The Dems are counting on Trump to be the nominee.   He is the linchpin of their entire strategy for 2020.

I agree.    And that's why I cannot support Trump for re-nomination.  We need someone who can advance his meritorious policies but without the chaos and baggage.   The Dems are counting on Trump to be the nominee.   He is the linchpin of their entire strategy for 2020.

I saw another Briefer here boastfully state that recent data has DJT insured of reelelction.  I avoid this individual, but that person along with any other who thinks Trump will carry Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvannia has been in 420ville too long
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Then Trump must be persuaded not to run.    LBJ did so in 1968.   The difference here is to cite the coalition he's assembled, and the issues he's stood for, and convince him that his legacy lies in the vindication of that coalition and those issues,  not in his defeat at the polls.    As with a successful corporation, there comes a time to act to preserve the founder's vision by bringing in new leadership.

And @Maj. Bill Martin , please understand that I have NOT spent all my time, effort and money trying to tear Trump down.   I have praised many of his policies, time and again.   But I am a realist -  the constant media war against Trump,  despicable as it is, is laying the groundwork for his defeat.    He can and should be thanked for his service, and urged to retire to his family and businesses.   He never intended to be professional politician.  He intended to shake things up.  Mission accomplished.   Time to move on.
