You can be sure that they had 24/7 orbital cameras on Syria to make sure they could track movements of chemical weapons, etc..

If it's true that we gave them a week's notice to get their ducks in a row (ie Kabuki show).... then I would bet that Assad will pull another stunt, and another.  What, exactly, is really stopping him?   

The only thing that would stop him is for us to go in and destroy those chemical labs and chemicals without prior notice or warning.  Right?

Apparently, the 'big price' for this chemical attack by Syria will be paid by us.  The AGM-158 JASSM is is just over $1M per unit and the Block IV Tomahawk is $1.8M, plus the added cost of operations.  Good news if you own Lockheed and Raytheon shares.

Considering it was 1 year after the last one that resulted in limited military action, he either didn't actually do it or he didn't care.  I don't see how last evening made a difference in meaningful consequence.

Yes and double the defense expenditures for not much more in results.  But, hey....he's got $700B to burn, some if it discretionary.  This is exactly the kind of thing Eisenhower warned about almost six decades ago.
