So you're good with corporations intruding into our lives and not having anyone stop it.

I can choose to reject doing any business or purchasing a service or product from a corporation.  I cannot refuse to do so when government is empowered to infringe upon me.

But I guess you are fine with that as long as they are infringing upon those whom you want infringed.

Come to think of it, government is a corporation in which all citizens share a stake...

Nope.  I don't buy the Obama-fostered notion that we must love big Socialist government "because government is us" and "we didn't build that".

Sorry if you buy into that belief, but I don't.  I reject it.

This is about the govt allowing virtual monopolies the power to determine whether your business can be seen by customers.   It means allowing them to takes sites like this  one and preventing people from seeing it.

Government is Midas in reverse.  It turns anything it is given authority to touch, into shit.

I do not trust government with the kind of power you think it deserves to have; to pick winners and losers and to implement 'fairness'.

You're just demanding the same thing the Leftists do for slightly different reasons.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

I'm a bit confused (what else is new?).....as Rush Limbaugh covered this "Net Neutrality" extensively on his show today.

He predicted that service providers would be forbidden/challenged by government agencies to provide, for example, NETFLIX, for free...with a 2 year contract, etc., as the epitome of unfairness to the consumer who pays for the service monthly.

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2017/12/15/an-informative-explanation-of-zero-rating/

Another way he explained it..... when you buy an automobile, you can choose different trims such as the L, the LE, or the SEL, depending on your desires and of course, your budget.

Want leather interior?  Pay me.  Want a satellite radio capability?   Pay me.

The Left demands a level playing field...but he asks the rhetorical question...what was 'wrong' with the internet pre-2015?

Summary....Rush doesn't want to let that camel's nose NEAR the tent.

WS champs the past two years?  Cubs and Astros.  Yes, hell will freeze over soon.

My internet was fine from 1994-2015, so what benefit did NN offer? The supporters haven't made that argument very well.

Right!!!! :amen:

Government is the problem. All governmnet need do is make sure no monopoly forms. After that get out of the way and let the market innovate.... then Games Theory / Market economy will do the rest.

Here in Tampa we have 3 main companies.

Frontier for $250 a month
Timewarner/Spectrum for $250 a month
Dish for about $200 a month and have it go out everytime it rains, which in Tampa is every day in the summer.

Ouch.

I'm paying Frontier $125/mon for 100Mb/s, phone, somewhere around 200 channels (366, but that includes music, public access, copies of both SD and HD, etc). and all the fees.  I have a cable card, so I don't pay for STB/DVR.

Spectrum might be $250 by now (for what, 10 or 20 Mb/s?) if I hadn't fired them for crap service and trying to raise my bill twice in one month.

Okay, I'm something of a dummy about this but I always disagree with you two, so I'm gonna guess that this is a very good thing.

@Emjay

Hey you don't ALWAYS disagree with me.

I could be wrong about NN but I'm 75% sure turning the internet into a big cable TV thingy
will not end well for us content consumers.

I look at the groups aligned for or against “net neutrality.” That tells the likelihood which side is right.

If I see myself on the side of liberal college professors, I know I picked the wrong side of an issue to be on.

Look at what Govt has mandated into a new car, as opposed to a new car from 60 years ago.
My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

Exactly! Making new cars more and more expensive and/or with gasoline blend options that are engine killers. Then there's the CAFE standards that basically make it neccisarily to build smaller vehicles. My husband is a firefighter. Do you know what all those gov mandated safety features mean when it's big car vs. small car? Squat! Big car wins almost every time.

My first truck was a Datsun 200 in the early 70's, I was a Bricklayers helper and when I shoved some scalping through the back window and realized the local hardware store had a replacement, I began to rethink that, I think, either way I survived unlike Jayne Mansfield. JS.

I'm no expert, but I did stay at a La Quinta last week and I believe Safety or Tempered glass is used on side and rear windows.  The Laminated stuff is windshields.  I also believe the Ambulance chasers want to see Laminated on all windows to keep passenger ejections down. (If you have your seat belt on in a crash  this pretty much negates the pesky ejection deal...but why quibble) But on the other hand it will trap occupants in the car as it much harder to bust out.

No worries.  It is a win win for the Likes of "The Strong Arm" and "The Hammer" Injury Attorneys.  If you crash and are ejected they will sue the Auto Companies.  If you crash and burn to death or drown because you can't break the Glass..they will sue the Auto Companies.
