SCHUMER: Trump Said He Doesn’t Care About The Wall

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, appearing on Pod Save America, claimed that when he and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi met with President Trump in mid-September, Trump agreed not to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, falling back on saying he’d agree to “some other kind of border security.”

Speaking with Pod Save America host Jon Favreau, Schumer said he informed Trump that to encourage trust with Democrats, he would have to make concessions. Schumer continued:

On Dreamers, he said, you know, that he understood that they didn’t come in through any fault of their own, that they’re good Americans, good kids. And then he said he wants the wall in return. And we said “No. No wall, Mr. President.’ And he tried that for about 15 minutes, but he’s not going to push me around verbally or any other way. And he finally said, “OK, we won’t do the wall. We’ll do some other kind of border security.”

Schumer’s version of events is the newest twist in the serpentine path accounts the meeting have taken; after the meeting, Schumer and Pelosi issued a statement in which they wrote, “We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

Schumer said glibly about his negotiating with Trump: “What I find is I go right back at him as a New Yorker, and he sort of seems to enjoy that.”

There will be no wall.   And only if/when there's no Democrat in the WH...  will illegal immigrant laws and border enforcement laws be recognized and actually enforced.  It will change with the wind and with the political party in power.  Might as well get used to the idea now.

Just ask yourself this: will ANY wall they build have razorwire on the top? No. It won't. Why? Because they don't want to risk illegals getting hurt when they clamber over the thing.

The politicians are willing to spend BILLIONS of our dollars on a barrier that will be easily defeated and not really designed to keep people out. They will do it for optics, to make RIV feel good about herself, while ladders are propped up against the thing daily and the flow of illegals remains unimpeded.

Are you saying walls don't work? Nothing is 100 percent perfect, even mind fields. But a nice physical barrier if built properly will certain help reduce the flow of illegal coming to this country. Oh and you can very quickly add razor wire or whatever any time you want do.

You want something ACTUALLY effective? Try an Israeli-style border security fence:

I have to agree with you, RIV.  When did we start believing a word out of Chuck U Schumer's lying mouth?  I don't.

About the wall.  I never believed there could be a wall as many envisioned it, because the topography just wouldn't permit it.  I do believe some walls will go forward in some places.

I also believe there are other effective ways of curbing illegal immigration, one of which is empowering ICE agents and that is already happening.

Another way is getting rid of DACA and the jury is still out on that happening.

American's are compassionate people and liberals are very compassionate with my money and your money.  They wouldn't personally give a dime to an illegal but they will give our dimes.

We have to stop giving our dimes to them.  Many of them are probably nice people and who can blame anyone for wanting to trade Mexico for the U.S.  But they are criminals who committed a crime when they entered illegally.  We have to harden our hearts and stop rewarding them for that.

I think Trump wants to end sanctuary cities but it ain't easy.  The press and the liberals are ganged up against him on every issue.

Different walls for different spaces.  Oprah Winfrey has an estate here on Maui and, yeah, she has a high fence around it.  By the way, she may be our next president so she may need a wall instead of just the fence.

If you want one, you might think about supporting Trump in his attempts to get one instead of dissing the people you cleverly refer to as 'trumpettes.'

Go look at the proposals. You tell me if you couldn't just toss a ladder up against half of them. Even others that are meant to be more difficult to bypass could be easily bypassed with a cherry picker, which would just become the new cottage industry of border towns. Rent your cherry picker with a rope ladder today.

There are a couple that try to deter tunneling underneath, but the requirements call for a six foot buried section. Whoop di doo. Some tunnels under the border NOW are over 80 feet deep.

Bottom line...

Unless the wall is actually a series of defenses, like the Israeli style border fence, it will get bypassed. It needs to be impossible to get a vehicle anywhere near the fence. There needs to be multiple razorwire barriers to slow people down. The entire length of the fence needs to be monitored continuously, and inspected daily. You need to be able to see right through the thing to monitor properly. Finally, we need to have the actual will to enforce the border with FORCE. We shouldn't worry about people getting cut on razorwire, THEY should be worried about getting shot if caught in the wire.

Border patrol agents are going to try and break through the prototypes and work with each of them to assess security .... and then a new set of specs, if required, will be issued along with a request for updated models.

No vehicle ditch. No razorwire. Just two fences with an "electronically monitored" zone in between with the nearest border patrol 10-20 minutes away by car.

Ladder up. Climb over. Ladder over. Walk to next fence. Ladder up. Climb over. Gone.
