Go look at the proposals. You tell me if you couldn't just toss a ladder up against half of them. Even others that are meant to be more difficult to bypass could be easily bypassed with a cherry picker, which would just become the new cottage industry of border towns. Rent your cherry picker with a rope ladder today.

There are a couple that try to deter tunneling underneath, but the requirements call for a six foot buried section. Whoop di doo. Some tunnels under the border NOW are over 80 feet deep.

Bottom line...

Unless the wall is actually a series of defenses, like the Israeli style border fence, it will get bypassed. It needs to be impossible to get a vehicle anywhere near the fence. There needs to be multiple razorwire barriers to slow people down. The entire length of the fence needs to be monitored continuously, and inspected daily. You need to be able to see right through the thing to monitor properly. Finally, we need to have the actual will to enforce the border with FORCE. We shouldn't worry about people getting cut on razorwire, THEY should be worried about getting shot if caught in the wire.

Finally?  I would think that would be Firstly.  Everything is predicated on that "will" to enforce the border and the immigration laws already in place.... vs. the politically correct BS we had under Obama.  Without that, no wall is going to stop them.

I think we should perhaps model our enforcement methods along the lines of what Mexico utilizes.... that is.... when they're not allowing thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of illegals to 'pass thru' their borders (due to a secret deal with the US leftists) headed for the US.  What does Mexico do with illegals they catch?  I think they throw them in jail, no due process.  I would do that but I would put them to work building that wall and make them, in essence (lol), pay for the wall via their sweat.

Anyway.... any wall will have its flaws unless you throw a zillion dollars into the construction....and this nation can ill afford to do that.  So at this point, they need to just build what works best for the least amount of money in the interim.  But my money is on that "will" to enforce, not the wall.

Oh, and I can tell from your response that that idiot @Emjay is still addressing responses to me. Apparently, after all this time, she still hasn't figured out what "ignore" means.

Save your arthritis-stricken fingers the pain of typing out a reply. You are on ignore and will stay that way forever. I shouldn't even bother telling you this again, but I feel bad for your desperate attempts to get me to respond to you. Maybe you'll get a clue and stop now.

Hey @bolobaby ... since you've got @Emjay on ignore ... go ahead and add me to your list.

Thanks.

Agreed. It should be "firstly." No doubt. Great catch.

Also - you are right - even an Israeli style border fence can be defeated, but from a deterence standpoint, it's ten times the barrier THIS crap is:

http://truthfeed.com/breaking-new-epic-border-wall-proposal-the-photos-are-amazing/73579/

That article is obviously written by another Trump sycophant. I could defeat that with a retractable ladder and a rope ladder to toss over the top and down the other side. I mean, seriously. Give me a break. Moreover, you KNOW the last picture in the article is what would get implemented. That one is unclimbable? Really? Looks like I could scale that in about 20 seconds.

Not sure how the American public would react to "labor camps" for illegals to build the wall. Guys like Schumer would be on TV nightly foaming at the mouth. And the first "prison riot" from the scene would be turned into a heartwretching Hollywood movie designed to turn the entire population against the GOP forever.

Best to just catch illegals in the act by constructing a barrier that effectively slows them down such that you can immediately deposit them back on their side of the border after a rather painful tasing (to deter an additional attempt).

It'd be a lot cheaper to just enforce the fookin' laws.  In fact, doesn't matter how expensive a wall is, it'll never work if we let people ignore the law.

Hey @bolobaby ... since you've got @Emjay on ignore ... go ahead and add me to your list.

Thanks.

No no no. I want YOU to put ME on ignore.

I've LONG contemplated putting you on ignore, RIV. The problem is, your stupidity is omnipresent. You track down sensible discussion on this forum and turn it into a hot, Trump-loving mess every time.

If I put *you* on ignore, you will still arrive on threads I've posted, or comments I've made, and distract everyone from reasonable conversation with your vapid responses. All original, intelligent conversation gets lost in your sea of emoticon stupidity and Trump boot-licking.

If you put *me* on ignore, I can post actual conservative responses without you seeing them to derail the conversation. Other people can read and consider them, but you won't be able to turn a conservative line of thinking into Trump-worship.

THAT'S the main reason I don't put you on ignore. Because you'll still show up anyway, more often than not. You are one of the main reasons I've even stopped posted on TBR as much - because you and your ilk turn every thread into a pack of lies about the greatness of the Trump-clown. I still come on ocassionally and post things. Hopefully one of those posts inspires you to ignore *me*. If that happens, I might actually enjoy posting here again. No one enjoys posting on a site where the Code Pink Trump activist shows up on every thread to hijack the conversation about conservativism with their Trump loving BS.

Please. Put me on ignore. It's been my hope for the longest time.

(Edited to clarify awkward wording.)

I agree with this. There are a few steps you could take where you would no longer NEED a wall. In fact, you wouldn't want one because the illegals would need easy access to self-deport.

1. Shut down access to all government services to illegal aliens. This includes schooling for their children!
2. Make it illegal to rent property to illegals. If you rent to illegals, you are abetting their illegal status in this country. Expand eVerify to potential landlords so they can check up on tenants. Hefty fines apply.
3. Speaking of eVerify, expand it to all potential employers and make it mandatory.
4. Enforce the immigration laws against employers at all levels to the maximum penalty.
5. Require or incentivize local law enforcement to turn illegals over to immigration for immediate deportation. (Or penalize them if they don't.) Seize all assets of illegals caught in the commission of a crime.
6. Remove birth naturalization for illegals. Only the children of those legally in the country receive birth nationalization.

Do these things, and the illegals will self-deport. They'll get out the same way they got in... they'll walk across the border with little or nothing. They'll have no reason to be here - no services, no school for their kids, no job, and no place to live. Without those things, they know they'll be easier to catch, and that local law enforcement will turn them over in a heartbeat or their city loses all federal funding.

Wall? Who needs a stinking wall. We'd need people handing out water to the people walking BACK across the border.

I'll add that illegals should not be able to buy real estate, get mortgages or rent property.

Right? I don't understand it. Their presence here is illegal. How is it legal to help them maintain that presence?

If people are willing to tunnel under a wall or do other heroic things, they will be easily identified and arrested.

I posted an article the other day about how the ICE agents are now arresting people, feeling empowered to do so because Obama is no longer in power and Trump is supporting them.

Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

I like that Trump isn't supplying the coyotes with guns to shoot the agents with as Obama did, just for starters.  That alone is worth the price of admission.

I've been making that argument for years...

I'll add that illegals should not be able to buy real estate, get mortgages or rent property.

To make sure that doesn't happen going forward...there needs to be some harsh repercussions for the cities/counties/states that allow this to happen.  Sessions is trying to do this by going after Sanctuary Cities, but sadly most of those areas are in places with sympathetic Liberal appellate courts.

If we ever get a budget passed again...I'd propose cutting off the federal funds to those cities until they stop aiding and abetting illegal aliens.

Hardworking, good-intentioned illegal immigrants bought 4/5 bedroom colonials with $3600 PITI monthly nuts.

What could go wrong...when 'I' have each bedroom rented to 'team' (drywall/painting/landscaping) members who I see everyday?  For $500 apiece?

And so-called 'Sanctuary Counties' were instrumental.  All liberal enclaves.
