This weekend at a family reunion, while the whole family agreed they were not pleased with the president, they all agreed they liked the First Lady and her clothes. (And shoes)

Yes, it does look like she's wearing pants.  This is probably not my favorite look of hers, but it's a nice crisp white shirt.

She's here in my town right now at the Liberty U commencement.  Live local coverage starts at 8 eastern, and I'll be checking in to get a look at her outfit.

Look at the hem touching the floor and those flats/how heels, etc..

You could be right about the height issue, DC.  Makes sense.

Don't get me wrong, I like seeing Melanie move past the somewhat boring First Lady attire of past years.  That's why I'm interested...that, and she has the style to pull it off, which Michelle Obama did not.  It's just this particular outfit that doesn't grab me.

I agree about the wide leg pants.  I don't think they flatter anyone.

Totally agree.  She carries it off better than most would -- or could -- but it really isn't a very flattering look.

Edited to add: The closer-up pictures look better than the ones that are farther away.

She is wearing a stacked heel shoe ... probably 2 inches.  The President, by some reports, is 6'3"...so he has no problem standing next to his wife while she's wearing high heels.

The reason why I wear gold: I wear gold for three reasons. One, when Jesus was born, three wise men came from the east, one brought frankenscence, one brought myrrh, the other one brought gold. The second reason I wear gold is I can afford it. The third reason I wear it, it's symbolic of my African heritage. I was referring to the shoes she was wearing with the 'Sailor' hemmed pants that virtually touched the floor.

In that picture, the height differential was noticeable, so I incorrectly assumed she wore flats or...like you said, 2 in heels.

But Frank posted a ton a pictures showing the Donald at 6ft 5in.   So it couldn't be the heels....as I said she didn't want to be taller than him.

Didn't know he was THAT tall.   A big asset in controlling a room.
