Latest I've heard---he's off life support, but possibly brain dead.

@EasyAce

I guess that means he will keep voting Dim. Maybe even for hundreds of years.

According to Billboard, his manager just confirmed Petty's death, early this evening.

Tom Petty?  Geez!  Only about 2 years older than I.  Great body of work.

Rest in peace, man.

The Traveling Wiburys are getting back together one singer at a time.

Truly a  great group in my view. Only Dylan and Jeff Lynne left to go.

I had to look him up to find out about him.  I'm not a rocker so I had no idea before. 66 is WAY too young.

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one. :seeya: I did visit YouTube and listened to 4 of his songs. That was enough for me. I'm simply not able to discern his appeal. Nevertheless, I am saddened for his loved ones.

Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne are the only remaining alive.

@catfish1957

IMHO,Dylan is a over-rated media creation,and Jeff Lynne is not appreciated enough for his contributions.

'Refugee' was one of his best; IMHO atypical of most of his songs.

Have always been a huge Petty fan.  Have every album / CD as it was produced, even back to the mid '70's.

My favorite is this ditty (though somewhat obscure) .....a video was made for it.

And as a musician, I can honestly say it is probably his most complex work.

After the Rock and Roll  & Hall of Fame travesty of not letting Rush in. until '13 , in the next most overlooked bands are ELO & the Moody Blues

I remember standing in a 2 hour line to buy tickets to Paul McCartney who was playing at Seattle's King Dome.  I quickly learned that most of the people in that long long line that stretched around the block were there to buy Tom Petty tickets. The  hanging of the gaurd right becore my eyes.

'Goodfellas' actor Charles Low, Robert De Niro's buddy, dead at 89

A real estate developer whose friendship with Robert De Niro led him to an acting career that included a notable appearance in "Goodfellas" has died. Charles Low was 89.

Low died Sept. 18 at a nursing home in New Jersey.

Low and De Niro developed a friendship after the actor became a tenant in a building Low owned in New York City. Low went on to act in several films, including "Scent of a Woman," ''The King of Comedy" and "Once Upon a Time in America," and also appeared on the HBO series "The Sopranos."

Low's most notable role came in "Goodfellas," where he played wig salesman Morris "Morrie" Kessler. The character was killed by a screwdriver plunged into the back of his head.

Low's family says his funeral was held Sept. 20 in Elmont, New York.

Fan of his early stuff. Great writing and arrangement, he always had an amazing ability to set a mood, edgy but laid back at the same time.
