Real life isn't a movie, or a friendly bar fight from 40 years ago.  Not everyone is 200 lbs. and able to handle themselves in a fistfight, nor should that be a requirement to attend a political rally.  It seems that in many of these instances, you have large packs of disruptors surrounding much smaller groups of people who are necessarily dispersing to get to their cars, etc..  I imagine many of them are worried that fighting back may get them set upon by a mob that could seriously hurt or even kill them.  No matter how tough you are, 3 against 20 isn't going to come out well for you.  So rather than taking that risk, they take their lumps and just get the hell out of dodge as fast as they can.

And I don't get the antagonism towards every Trump supporter just because some of them are dumb enough to spout the braggadocious "we don't need your support" line.

Saying that Trump "asks for" this kind of thing (rightly or wrongly) is entirely different than supporting the thugs who do it.

Each one of these protests is increasing the number of votes for Trump, his base, and his support.

If the Left thinks they are 'hurting' Trump with this, they could not be more wrong. Just the opposite is happening.

If the Left stopped promoting, organizing, and funding these protests, the Trump organization would take over the protests to keep them going. This is the best thing that could happen to Trump right now.

What's always missing from this videos is the context. What happened right before? Did the Trump supporter spit in their face? Maybe the Trump supporter kicked one of them. We don't know because they only show the isolated assault.

My reaction is that this violence is disgusting and I condemn it, but you make a good point I did not consider at first, bolobaby.
Still, the result is only productive if one wants to elect Trump.  Pictures and video of bleeding Trump supporters creates sympathy for the Trump supporters who were assaulted.

As a California native, I suggest that most of the demonstrating, protesting and violent Hispanics are legal native born citizens, perhaps with illegal entry among their ancestors.

They see the movement against illegal immigration, as an ethnic affront. As an attack on who they are and where their roots lie.

Native born Hispanics are not a monolith. Some identify as Americans first, and some identify as Hispanics first--or coequally.

Do you really think it is possible to "unite" with Bernie supporters who want to bring socialism here?  Or even with Hillary?  How about with BLM, or MECHA, or the militant feminists?  How about with the jihadi sympathizers?  Don't you think that Obama has been dividing the country since day 1 with his "bitter clingers" stereotyping, etc.?

The country has been divided for a very long time, and the left has made it much, much worse.  Everything from BLM, to MECHa, to the militant gays, to the campaign against the 1% -- everything.  The problem is that conservatives have been afraid to call out/challenge the left on much of that for fear of being called racist or divisive.  So in many respects, we've had a one-sided culture war because one side has refused to fight back.

Given that "unifying the country" is not possible, what we should be striving towards is that even if we cannot agree, we can at least disagree without getting violent.  And that's what the left cannot stand.  They are angry that someone is calling them out and deigning to speak that which shall not be spoken, and so feel justified in suppressing that speech with violence.  That's the bargain -- resolve our differences at the ballot box -- that so many on the left apparently refuse to accept.  And that is a much, much bigger issue than whatever dumb statement Trump happens to make on a given day.

I disagree.  With the correct person leading this country, I believe we would see unification. The immediate problem is we have a presidential candidate with an 'R' after his name that makes dumb comments, attacks others and talks about violence; that doesn't bode well for peacekeeping nor does it help to unify a country. Quite frankly he has only reinforced the rhetoric from the left; the GOP consists of angry rich white people.

But i think it would be fair to say that many seem far more concerned about Trump's braggadocio than they do about actual mass political violence from the left, and that some are placing the blame for the violence on the speaker rather than the thugs.  Some even seem pretty close to excusing that violence.

I don't support thugs (leftist or otherwise) and I don't excuse violence at Trump's rallies.   But Trump carefully crafts and cultivates his image as a bully.   He is reaping what he has sown.
