Welcome, @XenaLee.We've got the makings of a fine Texas board here!Oh, @austingirl, did you see that Franklin Graham will be at the Capitol tomorrow?
I remember back in the day there was no reason to go north of Beltline Rd..... unless you lived in the sticks er Plano!
I no longer live in Austin- moved to the Hill Country in 2011. The Obama signs at my neighbors did me in. Along with the traffic at the "Y" in Oak Hill.
Yes. Back when Plano was primarily a farming community and Preston Road was dirt/gravel.
Your friendly neighborhood media relations & technology guy for the forum checking in from deep in the Piney Woods.
I liked the old avatar. It was like our host, our guide, our butler Alfred and the Game Master all rolled into one... it was like the ferryman on the River Styx, like the man on the tapes of Mission Impossible, no it WAS the tapes... but without the self-destruction... hopefully...I'll stop now. Our Yoda! That's it!...
The man changes Avatars like underwear.
I hate that not so fresh feeling.
I know, and those skidmarks can be so annoying!
Is this what Texans get up to when they're by themselves?
@geronlMore hail is expected today. Are you still in New Braunfels? Hope you are fairing well. My cars are OK. I do believe my roof had hail damage. Will contact my homeowners agent when (if) things settle down.
Nice thread y'all have here. I'm from a small town a couple of hours west of DFW on the edge of the desert....lol.I joined TBR earlier today after finding myself zotted from FreeRepublic, for not bowing to the presumptive nominee.A lot more peaceful here.....
Yes, expecting nasty weather about rush hour here.
Hubby has a real good friend who lives in Texas, his house was destroyed by the hail. He is now living in motel.
Oh, no! What part of the state?
Been here since yesterday when someone reached out to me when I could no longer post. I have reached out to slyfox who is considering joining. I never did change my alias when I moved out to the Hill Country in 2011, but remember fondly the marches at the Capitol in 2000.I met some great FReepers: basil, TheBatLady, TheSarce (may she rest in peace), anymouse, DrewsDad, and many others. Went shooting with the ladies, had the Texas HOT chapter at my house for meetings. Good times. Glad to see so many Texans here!
Here to join the Texas Chapter!!
Wylie, he said he was in the kitchen and all of a suden the roof caved in and water was coming in at a fast rate. Flooded the house. Now some of the roof is gone, they have huge fans in the place trying to dry it out.
Native Texan here, spending the next three or so weeks with my daughter in NYC. And am enjoying the heck out of this trip.I have hosted the TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot for the past ten years. If anyone is interested, the 11th annual will be held this October in Hicksville. FYI - the shoot is not about FR, it is to honor a truly wonderful Texas man.
Howdy TheMom, say hello for me to TheGirl.
Welcome my friend! Long time no see!
Thank you.Smokin' Joe gave me a heads up about TBR.
Another member of the Texas contingent posting a wave to the neighbors. Not a native myself (the wife is a native) but I have lived here since Dec. 1989. We used to live in Austin, and we currently reside just a ways north of there. Both of us very glad to be out of Goofytown!Finding myself glad to be here on this board also. ^-^
Austin is a challenge.
Two point plan for turning Austin from blue to red.1. Cut funding for all UT programs except STEM majors.2. Have the state legislature enact a law that makes Austin a must-carry (concealed or open) city for all adults.
Howdy do! From Addison or Bandera depending upon the day of the week.
We used to have a fairly active Heart of Texas Chapter in the area.Maybe we can get everyone together again for a trip to Walburg or someplace in the near future.
Walburg? Maybe if the Walburgers are playing!

Not sure about the Walburgers, but we've danced to the Walburg Boys.http://www.walburgrestaurant.net/
Hey, Thackney! You're the man on fossil fuels and climate change.Glad to have you here. I was in awe of you at FR at your knowledge of the industry.
