Trump names Cruz when asked about VP spot
Mark Hensch

Donald Trump on Tuesday named Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) when asked about his possible running mate in 2016.

“Ted Cruz is now agreeing with me 100 percent,” he said when asked about his vice presidential pick, according to Lifezette.

“Well, I like him,” Trump told radio host Laura Ingraham during her broadcast. "He’s backed everything I’ve said.”

Unlike most of the Republican presidential hopefuls, Cruz has mostly refrained from attacking Trump, even appearing alongside him at a rally in September against the Iran nuclear deal.

The pair has also struck similar tones on topics such as border security and illegal immigration.

Still, Trump suggested late Monday that he will turn on Cruz if he becomes a threat to his front-runner status.

“If he catches on, I guess we’ll have to go to war,” he told host Joe Kernen on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

Cruz and Trump are also on the same page in opposing President Obama's plan to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. Trump on Tuesday said Germany's decision to accept the refugees is going to "destroy" that country.

Wonder how Cruz feels about being patted on the head and told "you're number two?"

Cut Cruz's presidential candidacy off at the knees.  You gotta hand it to Trump: he's a step ahead of the rest of these guys.

This is what Cruz gets for sucking up to Trump.

Cruz has one shot at a response.  It ought to be measured carefully.  Then, move on as though nothing was said.

Cruz thought he was going to stand around and pick up the pieces when Trump cratered.

Now, Trump is trying to cannabalize Cruz's voters. Yikes.

I predicted this early. Cruz is smart enough about his electoral chances to dispassionately assess the likelihood of his reaching the nomination. Plus I think he can sense the tide coming. He'd be smart to take the 2 slot on a winning ticket rather than risk going back to being one in 100.

I told you guys months and months ago that there was a reason they were avoiding commenting on each other.

This was right after they had a private luncheon meeting somewhere in the South.

Trump/Cruz should be a winning ticket if everybody stays true to themselves.

If Trump runs with Cruz, he just might lose 50 states.  He certainly won't win the presidency.

There's a segment of conservatism that thinks it is more populous than it is.  A Trump/Cruz ticket will prove their folly.

The Blue Dogs will be a factor.  After eight years of this anti-American divisiveness they will be showing up next November like those cicadas every seventeen years.

I agree.  Sadly, I am confident that the Boehner/Rubio types, the RNC/GOPe types, would support Hillary/Sanders over any Trump ticket. They have already all but said so indirectly.

The GOPe worships the status-quo. And of the two, Hillary is as insider and as status-quo as you can get. The establishement on both sides are attracted to that.

There are no "blue dogs."  All the conservatives have left the Democrat Party.  Trump may pick up a few Democrat stragglers, but he won't get many.

If he's the nominee, he will win without my vote. I've had it with narcissists in the Oval Office.  Plus, I think it's entirely plausible that Trump is a stalking horse for Hillary.

Well, since we are suggesting hypothetical, could-happen scenarios, how about this one:

It could give Cruz a shot at being President before the mid-terms.

You're simply hedging your bet by saying that.

Trump draws from a wide cross section of the political spectrum. In fact, his critics have proven the likely truth in that statement by citing Trump as a liberal democrat in republican drag. Well, if that's the case, with millions of conservative and tea party republicans already supporting him, throw in some independents and a bunch of liberal democrats and you got the next president of the United States.

So you're admitting that Trump is a cipher. A Trojan Horse.

Today, when I look at Trump, I see an American first.

Democrats are extinct.  They took refuge in the Republican Party. What's left are Socialists.

So...it's a Democrat posing as a Republican....or a Socialist impersonating Karl Marx.

A no-brainer, Sinkspur.

He won't. He is committed to playing nice with the Donald.

The more I think about this, the more I think Cruz and Trump have a deal.

Trump is a showman.  He doesn't know jack about politics. He's accustomed to giving orders, not dealing with the give-and-take of the political process.
I know you love him, but I will never vote for Donald Trump.  Won't matter if he's as popular as you say he is.

He's an American first all right.  Jesse Ventura, squared.
