People are claiming he can't implement his tax policies without raising the debt limit.

The way the CBO scores tax cuts causes them to show as expenditures even when the treasury takes in more money after they happen. It's insane!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I can imagine Trump saying the CBO has proven its structurally unsound, and have the OMB score it.

The federal government should be forced to use the same accounting rules that apply to publicly-listed corporations.  And any deviation should be grounds for criminal prosecution.

If a positive balance sheet is needed for tax cuts, then why in the hell did we just vote on adding $110 billion on to the deficit for illegals?  And how in the hell can people on a Conservative forum support that?

So placing a limit on the amount of debt this nation can run up is somehow blocking Trump from doing what he wants to do?  Interesting.

Yes

Key to the revitalization of the American economy functioning for the benefit of the middle class is getting manufacturing back in the USA. Trump wants to encourage business to manufacture in the USA by lowering capital gains tax on goods made in the USA to 15%. In the short term the tax revenue would decrease. The establishment loyalists will use the debt ceiling to fight Trump's tax cut and even the extension of the existing tax cuts.

We weren't the ones who just handed out tens of billions to illegals.  It's the American people who just got played.

No, you guys are so easily manipulated by the never Trumpers. All they have to do is point to the debt crisis and you will say NO!

The illegal immigration problem is going to get dealt with and the monetary cost will decrease dramatically as deportations accelerate, the wall gets finish and the cartels are treated like the terrorist organizations they are.

That's complete bullshit.  Tax )aws are not affected by spending limits.  The bottom line here is that Trump just sided himself with the Swamp.  Again.  And all his zealots know it.

It's such a shame that so many in the Freedom Caucus are so easily manipulated. The extension of the tax cuts and new tax cuts will be fought on the grounds that the reduced revenue will exceed the debt ceiling. Trump didn't side with the establishment loyalists. He sees a bigger picture. You can't win everything all at once. The first thing you need to do is shape the battlefield to your benefit. The say NO caucus just thwarted Trump's effort to do so.

I would hope he would, but the establishment loyalists will ignore that.

It's not a question of supporting it.

I for one want Trump's economic plan put into place. In March when the debt ceiling battle begins and the Rats attempt to thwart Trump's tax cuts because of it we will look back and realize this CR fight was another lost battle.

You guys got played.

@bilo - Please explain to me how I got played by opposing $110 billion in new spending for illegals?   How does that work?

What in the hell are you talking about here?  Trumpers and never-Trumpers are on the same side here.  Both support adding another $110 billion tou our national debt, above and beyond what a CR would do.

The illegal immigration problem is going to get dealt with and the monetary cost will decrease dramatically as deportations accelerate, the wall gets finish and the cartels are treated like the terrorist organizations they are.

The only reason we have an illegals problem is we keep handing out free shit to them.  And the bill you support dishes even more free shit to dole out to anyone crossing the border illegally.  That's just shear idiocy.

$110 billion could have gotten us a decent wall and a souped up ICE.  But no, your side chose to side with Schumer and Jeffries instead.  And you claim that we got played?  Yeah, right.

Can you please explain to this good ole boy from Texas how continually voting FOR that which you despise is ever going to change anything? I'm having trouble grasping that concept. @Right_in_Virginia

When do the good ole boys and girls in the Freedom Caucus recognize their voting strategy ain't working @Bigun and come up with a Plan B?

So, what is 'Plan B'?  Other than doing  the same thing we fid last January, which was suspending the debt ceiling and giving the Democrats everything they ask?  Because Plan B has added another $2.5 trillion to our national debt over the last 12 months..
