Learning to use the Buttons( Play/testing area)
« on: August 14, 2012, 07:40:18 am »
I will put up some visuals tomorrow evening on another thread,

But anyone wanting to play with the buttons can use this thread.

You can do quite a bit with the buttons!

Here are 3 ways to quote someone:

1:
"I will put up some visuals tomorrow evening on another thread,
But anyone wanting to play with the buttons can use this thread."

2:
Quote
I will put up some visuals tomorrow evening on another thread,
But anyone wanting to play with the buttons can use this thread.

3:
I will put up some visuals tomorrow evening on another thread,
But anyone wanting to play with the buttons can use this thread.

Number 1 is simple cut and paste.  Anyone can do that.  Boring.  But easy.

Number 2 uses cutting and pasting into the reply box, as above, but then employs highlighting and the yellow quote button located above the reply box.

Number 3 uses the quote button found at the upper right of each post and inserts the quote for you into the reply box PLUS it adds a hyperlink that also identifies the person you quoted and, as all hyperlinks do, takes you back to that post in the thread stream.

Go ahead click the the blue hyperlink above the number 3 sample that says "quote from Repub4Mitt".  Sweet, huh?

Try doing that at TOS.

What if you want to cite multiple past posts from a thread?  This one blah blah blah...

You can do quite a bit with the buttons!

Simply use the "insert quote" button after you've already used the "Reply" button.

And don't forget the multitude of emoticons under the "more" button:

Actually, no.

When you hit the quote button, either before hitting the reply button or after hitting the reply button, that will only quote that post, not the quotes within that post, like I've done here:

What if you want to cite multiple past posts from a thread?  This one blah blah blah...

and this one blah blah blah

Simply use the "insert quote" button after you've already used the "Reply" button.

And don't forget the multitude of emoticons under the "more" button:

Only massadvj words were quoted.  Not mine or Repub4Mitt.

To quote two different posts, hit reply and then scroll down through Topic Summary, which is located immediately below the reply box, and hit "Insert Quote" (located on the upper right of each post summary) for each post you wish to quote.  Simple.

This software is great.  Play around, folks.

You could have fixed that with the "Modify" button or the "Remove" button, but I can't fix it for you.

(I originally wrote "Delete" instead of "Remove" but realized the title of the button was wrong, so I used "Modify" to change it.)

No need to complain in public.  Simply use the hand-dandy "Report to Moderator" button and piss and moan voice your legitimate concerns to your heart's content.

One thing I've discovered is that some of these things are challenging on an iPad, forr me anyay. I'm trying this out with my teeny tiny keyboard!

What will this do?

  and or this?

I guess I should try this

And end with

I was hoping she'd catch it LOL  I have two daughters that are addicted to that movie so our family is always quoting the lines to each other.  And my daughters aren't little girls, mind you, they are 19 and 20.  Awesome, wonderful young adults that watch fun Disney movies instead of MTV for down-time in between college classes and work.  I'm so blessed   0001
