Philly fire chief says five dwelling fires were extinguished, casualty numbers could rise

Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson said the fire department completely extinguished five fires that broke out after a medical jet crashed near Roosevelt Mall in Philadelphia.

Fire marshals remain on the scene and are investigating those dwellings looking for anyone who may be injured or in need of rescue.

"This is a very large area with a lot of damage, and we are still working in a number of different ways to assess that damage," Thompson said. "Right now, we are doing another, what we call a grid search of this entire roughly 4 to 6 block area, a very dense area to ensure that we have found everything that we need to find, that we have checked it, as you heard the mayor say, with all of the residents and we will continue to do that. We have teams who are going literally house by house, door to door and also our licensing inspections. personnel are inspecting all of those dwellings."

He added it is "entirely possible" that the casualty numbers may increase as the investigation continues.

"We have a lot of unknowns about who was where on the streets of this neighborhood last night at the time of impact, so it will likely be days or more until we are able to definitively answer the question about the number of folks who perished in this tragedy and the outcome for those who are injured."

'Absolutely no indication' of issues on plane that crashed in Philadelphia: Medevac company

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the company operating a medical transport plane that crashed in Philadelphia Friday night — killing 7 and injuring 19, said the aircraft had flawless maintenance records and was manned by top pilots.

Shai Gold, managing director of corporate strategy and communications for Air Ambulance, told ABC 6 news there was "absolutely no indication" of any issues with the plane prior to the crash.

The maintenance records of the airplane were "impeccable" and the company goes by the book, following manufacturer specifications, according to Gold.

He added the entire crew onboard was top-notch.

"The flight team [is] very experienced," Gold said. "We pick the best of the best to fly those air ambulances. These are very careful, very seasoned individuals."

The company noted the crew took their jobs very seriously and made it a point to "fly with passion."

"They fly with passion, they take care of patients with passion, and they're just world-class professionals," Gold told the outlet.

That's what makes the crash unusual, he said.

"It's a very unusual situation where, immediately after takeoff, the plane [took a] nosedive," Gold said. "Very unusual. ..............

The operator of a medevac jet that crashed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday evening released new photos showing the interior of the aircraft before the deadly crash.

Jet Rescue Air, the company operating the medical transport that crashed and killed at least seven people, while injuring 19 others, released three photos of the plane's interior.

The company’s spokesperson told Fox News, "those are the pics of the actual aircraft’s interior. You can see its setup. We call it ‘flying ICU setting.’"

The photos show a stretcher for the patient, which is covered in a white sheet and surrounded by various pieces of medical equipment used to track vitals and care for the patient.

NTSB releases video of responders searching through eerie site of fatal Philadelphia Learjet crash
NTSB announced that it recovered the cockpit voice recorder 8 feet below the site of the initial impact

By Andrea Margolis Fox News
Published February 2, 2025 6:57pm EST | Updated February 2, 2025 7:03pm EST

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recently released video of officials combing through the debris and destruction left after the fatal Jan. 31 plane crash in Philadelphia, which killed at least seven people and injured 22 others.

The footage, which was shot on Sunday, showed the haunting aftermath of the Learjet 55 crash. The eerily-empty streets were strewn with debris, yellow tape and abandoned vehicles, as well as construction barriers guarding the scene of the crash.

One official stood in a crater-sized hole to inspect the rubble. Drone footage also shows the abandoned cars with broken windows covered in ash several yards away from the crater.

On Sunday, the NTSB announced that it had recovered the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) from the scene, which was found eight feet below the site of the initial impact. Investigators also found the aircraft's enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS), which the NTSB says "could also contain flight data."

Officials stood near a crater of rubble in the wake of the fiery crash. (NTSB)

I think he lost conciousness when the Cartel bomb went off behind his head.

There's supposed to be a co-pilot.

That was my thought and perhaps the co-pilot wasn't paying attention, tending the patient or busy otherwise.

I'd like to think otherwise, but sabotage did cross my mind.

Video shows that there were no flames emitting from the jet.

The synchronized night flight lights were still operation and visible as it dived through the cloud cover at the steepest of angles.

Prayers up for a full and speedy recovery. It sounds like he just might have saved his sister. Heroic, either way.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
