According to a person familiar with the matter, the special counsel investigation into President Joe Biden's illegal mishandling and possession of classified documents is not expected to result in any charges.

The Wall Street Journal dropped the news on Thursday, citing an anonymous source that says the report will be sharply critical, but not offer anything more than that.

    The prosecutor investigating why classified documents ended up at President Biden’s home and former office is preparing a report that is expected to be sharply critical of how he and his longtime aides handled the material, but the probe isn’t likely to result in a criminal case, according to people familiar with the matter.

    Since his appointment in January, Special Counsel Robert Hur has interviewed roughly 100 of Biden’s aides, colleagues and family members, including his son, Hunter, culminating in a two-day interview with the president last month.

That revelation comes after Biden was interviewed personally by Special Counsel Robert Hur's investigative team in early October. The scandal arose after several classified documents were found in one of the president's old offices. Some of them dated back to his time in the U.S. Senate. Things escalated once documents were found in a box in his garage, completely unprotected. Over the following months, other pieces of classified information would be recovered.

While a president would have declassifying authority, all the documents in question were taken when Biden clearly did not have that power. The White House has continued to insist the troves of classified information found were simply put there by accident, an explanation that strains belief given some of them were moved multiple times.

According to reports, President Joe Biden will be riding into the sunset after it was highlighted that no criminal charges will be filed despite being caught in possession of classified documents.

Sources close to the matter told CNN and the Wall Street Journal that Special Counsel Robert Hur, who is investigating Biden for mishandling documents, is not expected to charge anyone.

He reportedly said there are no grounds to charge Biden in connection with the discovery of top-secret classified documents at his Delaware home and his Philadelphia office.

Hur’s investigation comprised 100 president’s aides, colleagues, and family members, including Hunter Biden.

The outlets note that Hur believes Biden did not commit any criminal acts.

On the contrary, however, former President Trump is being unfairly prosecuted for nearly the same thing. He is facing a May 2024 trial date.

Former President Trump railed against reports President Biden won’t be charged in the special counsel probe into his handling of classified documents, taking to social media Friday morning to complain of what he considers “prosecutorial misconduct.”

Special counsel Robert Hur is expected to put together a critical report of Biden’s conduct but its not likely to result in criminal charges, the Wall Street Journal first reported Thursday.

Trump, who faces criminal charges in Florida in a classified documents case, fumed on Truth Social against what he called “selective prosecution.”

“Wow! Fake news CNN, through a leak from the Department of Injustice, has just reported that no charges will be filed in the (much bigger than mine!!!) Crooked Joe Biden documents case,” Trump said in one post. “We are living in a very corrupt country!”

CNN cited “two sources close to investigation” in its report on Hur’s plans.

Hur was appointed in January to investigate Biden’s case after documents from his time as vice president were found at his former office in Washington, D.C., and his home in Wilmington, Del.

Hur’s team has told officials in the Justice Department that it hopes to have the report completed by the end of the year, but that timeline could change, CNN reported.

Biden was interviewed by Hur in early October after documents were found by officials clearing out his old office last November. Biden has maintained he did nothing wrong and his team has repeatedly noted that his lawyers quickly notified the Justice Department and cooperated with it after discovering the documents.

And Biden’s supporters argue his proactive response paints a crucial contrast with Trump’s conduct, which has been drawn criminal charges from special counsel Jack Smith.

Trump and co-conspirators are accused of misleading investigators and withholding documents from various government agencies.

The National Archives reportedly alerted the Justice Department that Trump possessed more than 300 classified documents after leaving office, which eventually led to the FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago property last August.

Trump’s trial in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case is set to go to trial in May 2024, though Judge Aileen Cannon appears to be considering postponing the trial until after the presidential elections.

Well, another great pick and appointee by Trump!  He was also involved with Mueller and Christopher Wray.  He has an interesting bio.

On November 1, 2017, Hur was nominated by President Donald Trump to be the next United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. On March 22, 2018, his nomination was reported out of committee by voice vote. He was confirmed by voice vote later the same day.[8] He was sworn in on April 9, 2018.
