Presumably the same applies to Israel, which undoubtedly has better intelligence than we do regarding threats on its own borders.

This morning, on Shabbat and a holiday, Hamas invaded Israeli territory and murdered innocent citizens including children and the elderly. Hamas has started a brutal and evil war.

To the medical and rescue teams, and the many volunteers who came out in force today in a long list of places, the people of Israel salute you. With your spirit, we will overcome our enemies.

Today, I spoke with US President Biden and with other world leaders in order to ensure freedom of action for Israel in the continuation of the campaign. Major airlines halt flights to Israel after Hamas attack

Several major airlines have canceled flights to Ben Gurion International Airport after Palestinian militant group Hamas
launched a large-scale surprise attack on Israel Saturday, leaving hundreds dead and thousands injured.

United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines all announced that they have temporarily suspended flights to and from the international airport near Tel Aviv.

"Future operations at TLV will be suspended until conditions allow them to resume," United said in a statement to CBS News.

Both Delta and AA said in statements that operations to Israel had been suspended through at least Sunday.

"We will continue to monitor the situation with safety and security top of mind and will adjust our operation as needed," American Airlines said.

Delta added that it was "working to safely transport Delta people back to the U.S. and will work with the U.S. government as needed to assist with the repatriation of U.S. citizens who want to return home."

Also canceling flights were Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, Ryanair and Aegean Airlines.

Israel's former Mossad chief: "We didn't have an inkling of what was going on"

The former chief of Mossad has told CNN that "We had no warning of any kind, and it was a total surprise that the war broke out this morning.”

Efraim Halevy, the former head of Mossad, Israel’s Intelligence Service, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Saturday that Hamas militants had launched thousands of rockets at Israel on Saturday.

“The number of missiles they have launched within less than 24 hours is over 3,000. This is beyond imagination from our point of view, and we didn’t know they had this quantity of missiles, and we certainly didn’t expect that they would be as effective as they were today,” he said.

Halevy also said that the number of rockets fired by Palestinian militants on Saturday morning had “never seen before.” He told CNN that this was a “unique attack” and “the first time” that Gaza has been able to “penetrate deep into Israel and to take control of villages.”

“As an operation, it was highly successful, unfortunately, I think it was well coordinated,” Halevy said.

Halevy said that he suspects the rockets were manufactured in the Gaza strip after being "smuggled in by sea" and that Hamas “probably” was able to perform “trial training” without letting Israeli forces discover their plans.

 “We didn’t have an inkling of what was going on,” he said.

Can't disagree with you, except that if you want "peace", you're gonna have to kill ALL of them.

The problem for Israel is that they're locked into playing a defensive game against the muslims.

The muzzies hit them, Israel strikes back.
With enough force to quell the incident.
But... never with a sufficient amount of force that will dissuade the muzzies from trying to hit them again after they grow strong enough for another attempt.

Hit the palis HARD enough, and it may convince them that it's not worth trying again.
Fear must be struck into their hearts, greater than the fear of allah.

But... Israel can't do that.
It's more than the opprobrium of "world opinion".
It's... Jewish "guilt". Their version of the "white guilt" which afflicts Americans.

To strike back with fury and vengeance would be to abandon the cloak of moral superiority that the Jews have carried since World War II.

They can't forfeit that.
