Gaetz Has Filed Motion To Vacate the Chair

I'm just going to say that whatever the end result of this entire process is, responsibility lies solely at the feet of Gaetz and his allies.  They get no points for their intention, desires, goals, etc..  All that matters is whether or not Gaetz's Motion puts us in a better or worse position.

They get elected for results, not for grandstanding.

My take?  Mc Carthy 100% needs to go, but do it January 3, 2025.

Gaetz says that he is mad at McCarthy for passing a bill that was supported by 126 Republicans and 209 Democrats, and so he is aiming to oust him by having ~6 Republicans vote with every Democrat.

On one hand, Gaetz' post is noble and truthful.  Compliments to him for putting it out there just how all you deficit hawks are...shrieking pansies who think by holding a moral high ground will somehow get you reelected.

BTW... I love the idea of Donald Trump as Speaker of the House.

He'd be 3rd in line.

OK, so here's McCarthy's current status.

House Rs expected to have 219
House Ds expected to have 208

That would be 214 to remove McCarthy. So McCarthy can only lose 5 votes.

Biggs, Gaetz, Good, Crane, Rosendale and Burchett have said they will vote against McCarthy. That's six right there.

Buck, Mace, Mills, Spartz and Davidson have all voted against tabling.

McCarthy is in deep trouble.

In reality, who the Speaker is makes very little difference.  What is needed is a larger GOP caucus with a clear House majority willing to control spending.  Absent a majority of House members being willing to do that (ignoring the Senate and Presidency for the moment...), who the Speaker is won't make a damn bit of difference.

That's what Gaetz & Co. either don't understand, or deliberately ignore.
