Looks like Gaetz and a grand total of 10 other Republicans are going to unite with 200+ Democrats to defeat a Speaker supported by 200+ Republicans.

Gee, I wonder why the Democrats would vote in favor of Gaetz' motion?  I mean, what's in it for them if the result of this is really going to be a "more conservative" Speaker?

The democrats are allowing the republicans to build for them the argument that the GOP is wholly disfunctional and shouldn't be allowed to retain control of the House in 2024.

That's technically not the vote to remove the Speaker but it is the vote to have the vote to remove the Speaker, so it likely will be the same.  Although I do thinks Sparks said she would vote yes on this but no on the actual Motion.

People who say things like that just amaze me.  Are they truly that insular in assuming everyone shares their POV about Trump?

It's not a lack of "balls" that explains why House Republicans don't vote for Trump as speaker.  It's that a majority of them don't want Trump as Speaker.  "Balls" have nothing to do with it.

The motion to table is NOT adopted. It moves to the next phase - 11 Republicans voted to allow this process to move forward.  Not done yet - there is a chance that McCarthy holds on.  This is uncharted territory!

For those who don't understand, tabling the vote means delaying the vote. They had the opportunity to delay the vote and the Democrats and 11 Republicans voted to keep going with the ouster of Kevin McCarthy. Now they're having a 1hr debate about whether he stays or goes.
