Ron DeSantis Just Parroted the Democrat Line on Jan 6.
National Pulse, Jan 18, 2023

On the day President Trump announced he received a target letter from Biden prosecutor Jack Smith pertaining to the events of January 6th 2021, his Republican primary competitor Ron DeSantis was heard to echo the establishment line on the incident.

“For example, I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn’t do anything while things were going on,” DeSantis said directly echoing the Democrat-led January 6th Committee line. He added that Trump “should have come out more forcefully,” before going on to accept that “to try to criminalize that [is] a different issue entirely,” and that having a situation where “one side [is] just constantly trying to put the other side in jail” is wrong.

Contrary to DeSantis’s claims, Trump issued a video statement on Twitter during the disorder, urging protesters: “[Y]ou have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order.” Twitter took down the video and permanently suspended Trump’s account. The video was not restored even after Elon Musk reinstated the account, though it can still be viewed in the Miller Center presidential archive.

The basis of this thread is a complete lie.  Nowhere in DeSantis' speech did he parrot the Democrat line on January 6.  Nowhere.  DeSantis was clear to say that Trump's actions were not criminal.  This is nothing more than one in a long line of patently false hit pieces on DeSantis from the Trump camp.

He knew exactly what he was saying and why.  The flat out lie was the first, strongest point this fraud spewed.  He went to his usual too clever by half obfuscation by claiming (doing nothing) should not be criminalized.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the behaviors and arguments made by a lot (not all) Trump supporters actually pushed me further away from voting for Trump.  Too often, there is a complete lack of respect for the truth, and for the basic framework of our system of government  I just don't want people who think and act like that to have any more influence than they already do.   It's corrosive to what it takes for ordered liberty to survive.

And it's worse because a lot of the people they're duping are ones that normally would be on the side of principled conservatives.  We're never going to get those folks back as long as Trump and some of his minions have this much influence.

He is down in the polls, but is that a reality or are the polls generated to achieve their agenda?

IF Trump was brave enough to actually debate DeSantis he would lose BIGLY.
