A trove of Pentagon documents that were leaked online show just how deeply the United States has penetrated Russian security and intelligence services, allowing military officials to warn Ukraine about planned attacks amid the Kremlin’s invasion.

The documents detail Russia’s weaknesses as it struggles to overcome Ukrainian forces in its 14-month invasion, indicating several compromises in the military’s communications. The documents show several instances in which U.S. intelligence agencies have been tipped off about Russian strikes, allowing the U.S. to warn Ukraine ahead of time.

The papers also show that the U.S. has been keeping an eye on Ukrainian military leaders, which also appears to have several weaknesses as it attempts to stave off a Russian invasion. However, the reports indicate that U.S. officials have a far deeper understanding of the Russian military than that of Ukraine.

After classified documents have been leaked online, with details about Israel’s Mossad spy agency and Ukraine’s air defenses, US officials are now working to find who might be responsible, and some have suggested that it could be an American.

Reuters reported that the topics covered in the documents include dealings in Ukraine, China, the Middle East, and even Africa. It was reported on Friday that it was likely Russian or pro-Russian actors who were behind the leak of military records, which apparently included a partial, “month-long snapshot” of the war in Ukraine.

Michael Mulroy, a former senior Pentagon official, suggested that the “focus now is on this being a US leak, as many of the documents were only in US hands.”

However, it is not out of the realm of plausibility that this could be a pro-Russian operation, which would make it the largest security breach since Wikileaks released 700,000 documents, videos, and various diplomatic cables in 2013. Kirby Warns Journalists Not To Report On Leaked Pentagon Papers

White House National Security spokesman John Kirby warned Monday that the details surrounding the leaked Pentagon documents should not be reported out.

Several classified documents, some of which reportedly pertain to how the U.S. spies on foreign nations such as Israel, Ukraine and South Korea, were leaked over recent weeks, prompting officials to worry the leak could jeopardize international relations.

Kirby spoke about matter during Monday’s press briefing.

“Again, without confirming the validity of the documents, this is information that has no business in the public domain. It has no business – if you don’t mind me saying – on the pages of … front pages of newspapers or on television. It is not intended for public consumption and it should not be out there,” Kirby said.

Yesterday White House Spokesman for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, asked media not to report on the leaked classified intelligence that has been showing up on various social media platforms.  The classified intel was designated NOFORN, meaning the containment silo forbids sharing with any non-U.S. citizen; ergo the leaks came from inside our own Intelligence Community silos.

The UK is among a number of countries with military special forces operating inside Ukraine, according to one of dozens of documents leaked online.

It confirms what has been the subject of quiet speculation for over a year.

The leaked files, some marked "top secret", paint a detailed picture of the war in Ukraine, including sensitive details of Ukraine's preparations for a spring counter-offensive.

The US government says it is investigating the source of the leak.

According to the document, dated 23 March, the UK has the largest contingent of special forces in Ukraine (50), followed by fellow Nato states Latvia (17), France (15), the US (14) and the Netherlands (1).

The document does not say where the forces are located or what they are doing.

The man who leaked “sensitive and highly classified” U.S. intelligence has reportedly been identified by a member of a group he’s in, who said the alleged culprit worked on a military base and brought home top secret reports, sharing them with his online clubhouse.

The one purportedly behind the leaks, known to some of the group as “OG,” is a young gun enthusiast who last year posted a message on their Discord channel “laden with strange acronyms and jargon,” the Washington Post reported.

The group, made up of about 25 people, mostly men and boys sharing interests in guns, military gear, and God, was created as an invitation-only online platform during the height of the pandemic in 2020, according to the news outlet. Discord is a chat service popular with people interested in gaming.

This group, where “OG” allegedly shared hundreds of pages of leaked intelligence, reportedly included foreigners. ...

The majority of the documents appear to originate from the Central Intelligence Agency’s Operations Center and the Pentagon’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the outlet said. And because some of the especially restricted classified documents would only be available to a small group of decision-makers, investigators are narrowing their search for who could have leaked the documents. The Wall Street Journal article made no reference to an “OG.”  ...
