Ron DeSantis rips Trump's character, chaotic leadership style
Piers Morgan
10–12 minutes

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump.

In an exclusive wide-ranging interview with me airing on Fox Nation’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday, he said “stay tuned” about his widely expected announcement that he’s running for president and declared: I have what it takes to be president and I can beat Biden.

But it’s what he said about Trump that will ignite a firestorm in the Republican Party.

For months, DeSantis has said nothing as Trump’s escalated his verbal attacks on him, branding his ex-protégé “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron.”

On Monday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.”

The inferred morally censorious tone sparked a furious response from Trump, who raged on his own Truth Social platform: “Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser and better known when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!”

I’m all for it.  Trump had his time and that time is now passed.  DeSantis is a proven winner and an outstanding executive.  He’ll have my support.

Piers Morgan's characterization of DeSantis' comments is quite an exaggeration. He didn't exactly "open fire." He made a few pointed remarks, granted, but it wasn't with the bluster Morgan implied.

Selfishly, I was hoping the Ron would stay our governor.

Also, not looking forward to a repeat of Trump's mudslinging. 888mouth

DeSantis used more mild language than the headline suggests, but it's clear that he intends to run, and that he won't back down from Trump.

I am going to listen to what Ron DeSantis has to say before I get on the “sanctimonious train.”

His record in Congress is pretty conservative, especially on the spending, which is gonna be the most important issue facing us

If he runs, ultimately, he needs to run as the “happy warrior” as Reagan did. I fully expect that Trump is looking for an unflattering picture of DeSantis’s sick wife as we speak.

Nonetheless, it’s going to get nasty

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

It won't take long for Trump's true colors to come shining through.  At least we know DeSantis's father didn't kill JFK.  happy77

He might very well stay Governor.  He's just tired of the false accusations and character assassination and pushed back...hard.

Right

I think some folks jumped the gun a little bit

But I think the loyalty demands and hinting that Ron DeSantis is a groomer of some type would probably be too much for anybody to take without responding

The headline is sensational.  But I'm looking forward to Donald's next semiliterate ALLCAPS meltdown.  What's he going to allude to this time, bestiality?

"Intending to run" is not the same as "is now running", as everyone who watched Trump's own flirtation with the exact moment he would declare officially already knows.

Florida law will have to be changed before DeSantis declares formally unless he wants to give up the governorship.

He has a full majority in both Houses, I think it could be done.

I'm still not so sure he wants to run.

It's increasingly clear #DeSantis was led to believe a Trump indictment would derail Trump's campaign & be the perfect opening for his own. This was very bad advice.

It depends on how Trump handles this.  It's a sure bet it won't be good.

Who gave Ron DeSantis that advice or who it was that misled  him to believe that he would have an opening if Donald Trump got indicted? This individual seems to want to keep that info to himself

Beside, anybody in the Republican Party has an opening, whether or not Donald Trump’s there or not. Trump and his supporters have got to get over their belief that he is owed this. Hillary Clinton had the same belief. Must be a New York thing.

Yeah, I don't understand the argument about possible indictments either.  I think what this comes down to is that there are a lot of Republicans who believe Trump 1) can't win and/or 2) doesn't deserve to win.  So, those people wanted an alternative, and asked DeSantis.  DeSantis may share one or both of those opinions, and bieves that he's got the best shot.

I also think DeSantis is naturally competitive - captain of baseball team, conservative going to Harvard, and Navy JAG who got some.of the more intense/interesting assignments.  I think he likes the idea of battling Trump.

If the likes of Rand Paul, Noem, Abbott got into the race or were touted as possible nominees for the GOP presidential nomination for 2024, Trump, and his supporters, would be behaving the same way. All the above would become “globalist RINOs controlled by Jeb Bush.”

They would all become homosexual groomers

This is the strangest nomination process I’ve ever seen. Usually other candidates don’t react this way to other contenders. That doesn’t mean there isn’t fights over policy and records. But they don’t have infantile meltdowns

No need to ping
The name “Ron DeSantis” is so triggering for them, that they can find any thread from miles away that mentions his name
